The audition video. I mean by that you're not trying to be a TV star or an actor, actress. What do I mean? If you're a business person using an audition video for PR? Well, here's what's happened if you've done what we talked about in previous lessons, and you've created internet videos, showing your expertise, evergreen content, at some point, a local or national TV reporter or TV producer or Booker will call you and say, Hey, we're thinking of doing a segment on x as it relates to your expertise. What are your thoughts on that now?
You're thinking great, Wow, fantastic. Now's my time to be famous. This is going to be great. Hold on. You haven't been booked yet. Because this producer this reporter this Booker is looking for the absolute best possible guests.
You're just one perhaps of many people. This video A person is called you haven't gotten any commitment whatsoever to be used on this broadcast. So here's a technique that I've used many times. Now, a lot of reporters do know me for my expertise, but many of them have no clue who I am. They've never booked a speaking expert and media expert before. They're just randomly going down names they found on Google or YouTube.
So here's what I do. I find out what their issues are their questions, the general subject matter. And I certainly talked to them over the phone. But then I say to them, Hey, I'm gonna do a video in the next five minutes, showing you exactly what I think exactly what I believe. You can see for yourself as soon as I finish the call, I tape the video. And I keep it to 90 seconds or less.
I sum up the news and I give my analysis my perspective, opinion. Now that I know they're going to want to put in a story like this, and I send it to them right away. Now the Booker can see, okay, here's somebody who doesn't take 10 minutes to get to the point. Here's somebody who isn't so nervous that they're going on. Or the here's someone who can string a sentence together. So what I'm doing is I'm eliminating the risk on the part of the producer, the reporter, the editor, also distinguishing myself from the other experts, they may have called and just talk to over the phone.
Because as any reporter talk show, Booker can tell you, plenty of people are good on the phone, they give good phone, you put a camera on them, they shrink up. They talk in a memorize can phony when they're awful. So I use the video as a way of auditioning and it wins almost every time.
