Hi everyone, welcome back to parently. Today we're talking about an exciting topic, feeling your baby move. So all pregnant women at some gestational age should feel fetal movement. Everyone wants to know when they can feel the baby move. What's the latest that's a concern for when I'm feeling my baby move. Almost all women can feel the baby move by their 18th to their 22nd week.
Now there are some variables that dictate when you can feel your baby move, and why most women that have a front sided placenta called an anterior placenta are going to feel the baby move later than earlier. So you as a patient if you have a front sided or anterior placenta, maybe 22 to 24 even 25 weeks before you feel your baby move. Larger women tend to feel their baby move at a later gestation. If you Have a backside a persona, a top call a funnel persona, you typically can feel your baby move at an earlier gestation, even as early as 16 weeks. Now, once you have established fetal movement, the next topic that oftentimes you will be encouraged to follow is the fetal kick out. How often Am I feeling my baby move?
When should I establish that fetal movement? And what timeframe how many kicks in a certain timeframe should I be looking for. So after your 25 weeks, we would like you on a daily basis to determine fetal kick cap. And the best time to determine feel kick out is after you eat. Just like you feel better when you eat something. Your baby feels better because of elevated blood sugars and they tend to move more.
Even a glass of orange juice which is high in sugar can make your baby move at a quicker pace than if you did not drink Orange juice. So in a defined period of time two hours is that interval, you should feel your baby move at least 10 times, what is fetal movement, that's a kick, that's a hit. That's an elbow. That's a neat, that's a Twitter or a flutter or a swoosh. Now, you've got to separate that from gas pains. All women when they're pregnant have increased gas.
So you have to make sure that it's by baby moving, and not just a gas bubble and your intestines. So if you feel your 10 feel kick counts in two hour period of time. universally, that means your baby is healthy for that day that you're assessing fetal kick counts. Now, if you don't feel your baby, move that 10 times in two hours, what should you do? First of all, you need to drink something or eat something very, very important. Whether it's a glass of juice, whether it is actually a meal, then we'll down, turn your TV off, turn your noise off, and determine if your baby's moving in that two hour period of time.
Now, if you lay down and your baby is very, very active 10 movements in 15 minutes, that means your baby is healthy for that period of time, that 24 hour window. And you don't need to need to wait two hours, two hours pass and you do not feel your baby moves. So you've gone the first two hours you've eaten, you've laid down, you've gone the second two hours, and you're not feeling the baby move. At that point, I want you to notify your health care provider or go to your local hospital to be further evaluated. Fatal kick out very important. I encourage you to follow this on a daily basis.
If there's questions Oh, please talk to your healthcare provider on further testing if that needs to be done. I hope this was helpful.
