What to do if you have a tendency to keep postponing things was pointing tasks is something everyone does. In most cases, we just can't finish what's on our task list. So we leave whatever is left for the following day. The following day, we have a new task list plus the tasks that were supposed to be finished during the previous day. A few days later, we are confronted with a mountain of tasks that we just don't know how to deal with. First of all, in front of every task that is left over from the day before I put an exclamation mark, if I still can do it that day, I know something is wrong with a task, and I apply one of the methods I learned in the previous videos to solve it.
I usually ask myself, is it phrased correctly? Is it doable? Can I finish it in 30 minutes? If the answer is no to one of these questions, I will try to identify the problem. It might be that the task is in fact a project that should be divided into smaller tasks. For example, a task such as write my graduation paper could be broken into smaller tasks such as, think of a title for my graduation paper, write the table of contents, write the summary for the first chapter, extended the summary of the first chapter and so on.
The task which I replace write my graduation paper would be think of a title for my graduation paper. Now I have a clear and doable task that I can finish in a short period of time. I can think of a title in probably 30 minutes. From now on, I want you to pay more attention to the tasks you keep postponing. As soon as you've identified one, put an exclamation mark in front of it. And if you postpone it one more time, rephrase it.
