Productive people value their own time, much more than they value, saving money or accumulating more stuff. Now, that's not to suggest productive people don't like wealth and don't like money or that they don't have certain possessions they value or they desired. And I'm not suggesting that at all. Some highly productive people are very materialistic, others live like monks. But there is a difference in attitude when it comes to putting things in priority. A lot of people will say, Oh, I got a coupon for a free Ben and Jerry's ice cream cone or a free Mocha Latte at Starbucks.
And I'll just run off and wait in line for half an hour to get a $3 ice cream or coffee. productive people don't do that. They value their time. A lot more than saving the $3 it's the same with stuff people always kind of give out free stuff. Free handouts. Not necessarily worth it.
You have to ask yourself, is it actually worth it? Is this going to enhance your life is going to give you pleasure? Or is this going to make you more productive? Just because someone is giving away a piano doesn't mean you should take it. If you don't like the piano and you don't play the piano, don't spend your time going to pick up the free piano. It's not a value to you productive people are always asking themselves not does this thing have any value, but how much value does it have for me?
Now if you're extraordinarily poor, and you dreamed your whole life of a Ben and Jerry's ice cream cone and you've never had enough money, maybe waiting a half an hour in line is worth it, but for anyone else, it's not worth the time.
