Highly productive people like to socialize with other positive, highly productive people. Now this wouldn't be a productivity course without me quoting the famed business speaker and philosopher sorts, Jim Rohn, who famously said, You are the average of the five or six people you spend the most time with. At this point, is it cliche I'm sure you've heard it before, but I can a lot of cliches it is rooted in truth. If most of the people you spend your time with are just fixated on watching football, or getting into parties for free, or chasing boys or girls or whatever it is, they like to chase and they're not actually doing anything productive in their life. It's gonna be really hard for you to be productive if everyone you hang out with is folks focused exclusively on drinking more beer and watching sports every single spare second they have after they come home from a job they hate.
Guess what, that's what you're going to become. You're not going to become more productive. Now. I understand we all have certain family members, close associates, people we don't have any choice about we got to spend time with them. You can't really not spend time with a certain sister in law or brother in law if they're at your house every weekend, I get but you do have some ability to select who you spend free time with, and often who you work with. Be very selective.
Actively seek out people who are also creators who are also producers can be a completely different field. But I know I'd much rather hang out with someone Who creates music and creates CDs and puts on live music shows even though I know nothing about music, then the hangout with another person who works in a training department at a big corporation, hates their job never creates anything. That's me, it's probably you too. So if you really want to increase your productivity, take it to the next level, at some point, you've got to surround yourself with people who are like minded can be completely different industries. They don't have to be people up or above you or people making 10 times as much money as you they just have to be focused on creating things being productive. It could be someone who is a volunteer teacher at a nonprofit school doesn't even make money.
But they're focused on helping kids and creating things and doing new and innovative different things. That person is going to give you more motivation in spiration to be more creative in your own life, it will make you more productive. So you don't have to write anything down in the q&a section. But I want you to really think about who are the five or six people you spend the most time around. Are they productive, positive people? Or are they people who are just going through the motions of modern living
