Productive people always try to do three things. simplify, simplify, simplify. I realize that's repetitive, but it's such an extraordinarily important concept. Look at everything you do on a yearly basis, a monthly basis, a weekly basis and yes, most important a daily basis and figure out what is it you can do to simplify things to simplify the number of tasks, you have to reduce the items on a checklist? For example, example Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, pretty much were the same thing every Steve Jobs no longer with us, obviously, but they both were known for wearing the same outfit. Do you have to wear the same outfit and Rob yourself of individuality?
No, I'm not saying that. But it's a perfect example of how if you want to save time and simplify your life, you can do it both of them stated that they did it in part because it just reduce the need to think about what do I wear today? Where do I go shopping? Dean came in the famed inventor of the Segway and a gazillion other products. same mentality always wears the same thing. Now, I don't wear the same thing every day.
But when I'm making videos for online courses, I do wear this. Why do I wear this? Is it because it's just the most beautiful shirt ever, and I win all sorts of awards and constant praise. No, I wear this because it doesn't get criticism. And I don't have to think about what to wear. I don't have to worry about does it clash?
Is it too bright? Is it too this is it to that? Is it too formal? Is it too informal? All of those issues pop up. If I'm wearing a suit and tie then half the people think I'm being too formal.
If I'm wearing a jacket and no tide and that brings up a whole other set of issues, certain colors Can pixelate and look odd on online video. The beauty of this is frankly, it's not to anything. It's not too formal. It's not too It's not just a T shirt. It's not too formal. It's not too informal.
And I don't have to give a lot of thought to new wardrobe changes every single time I do a video. And since I make hundreds if not thousands of videos, every single year, obviously thousands I make hundreds per course and I do a couple of courses a month. I don't have to think about it. It simplifies my life. Now, again, you can look at this and say, well, TJ, I hate your shirt. Fine.
And I don't want to be like Mark Zuckerberg or Steve job. That's okay. But I do want you to really examine this principle of how can you simplify things? How can you narrow things down? How can you eliminate the clutter in your own brain and what you're trying to do? In order to be more productive
