This whole course is on personal productivity, how to get more out of your time during the day. But I do want to stress we are human beings, we are not machines. And that's why it's crucial to sometimes waste time. And by that, I mean doing things that aren't productive. But if you're truly having fun if you're doing something that you find relaxing, interesting fun, then it's not actually wasting time. This is completely different for different people for me, going out on a boat and how did you do all the schlepping and cleaning and not tying and all that and spending a whole day isn't fun, I'm more than happy to go out on someone else's boat for a couple of hours.
But for me that would be wasting time of all the things taking the cover off boats and checking this and again. To me that would be a waste of time. If you love boating. That could be the best possible use of a Saturday afternoon or all day long Saturday for your home. weekend. The point is productive people decide in advance, this is what I want to do.
And I realized it has nothing to do with creating a better product or improving my business, or necessarily making me smarter. It's just something I'm going to do for fun and relaxation. And it couldn't be playing solitaire on your cell phone. I hope not. But it could be anything. Just make sure it's purposeful.
You've decided you looked at all your options for entertainment. And you decided you want this. It's not just a habit of, Oh, I'm gonna play Solitaire for 14 minutes every hour or get anxious. That's not what productive people do. waste your time in a way that it's not actually wasting. Make sure you use your non productive time in ways that generate the most amount of relaxation, fun and enjoyment.
