Here's a practical tip to learn how to be on time. If you have that problem for one week, tell yourself you're going to be 15 minutes everywhere you go. And just bring along extra reading material, have a book on a subject you care about on your phone. You get there early, you just spend time reading, doing something else to make you more productive. There's no downside to showing up 15 minutes early. If it's a house party or something and they're still getting dressed, we'll just wait outside.
That's not a problem. So do that 15 minutes early for every appointment you have for the next week. See if you could build this habit of always being on time. Now I want to seem sympathetic. I don't want to seem like a cruel person. I do realize there's some people with situations known as ADHD other psychological physical issues that make it extraordinary fairly difficult to show up on time.
I have family members who have that. I'm sympathetic. I really am. Here's the thing. Nobody else cares about you, your friends and family do. But other people who have a huge, huge impact on your career, on your life, on your successes, on your projects, then care.
So, if you want to work in their world, if you want to work on their terms, you're gonna have to show up on their terms. So if that means going an hour early, you've got to do it. Here's one tip I would give you. Anytime you hear yourself saying without traffic, it's 15 minutes or half an hour hour. You need to instantly stop and strike out the phrase forever without traffic because guess what? There's no such thing as Without traffic unless you're going to a business meeting at 3am.
So here's the other tip for you always assume the worst possible traffic jam. If you are driving to the event, you can always check on ways, see how many minutes it is and then add another 20 or 30% do that you'll show up on time.
