Sleep have addressed this and other portions of the course. But it's just absolutely crucial. Yes, there are some productive people in the world, Elan Musk, others who claim they get by on five hours a night of sleep. And yet it often seems to get them into trouble. And that can only work for so long. There are occasionally rare people who truly don't need more than five hours of sleep.
Although I'm very doubtful of that. Most human beings need eight hours or more of sleep. As you heard me mentioned before, if you're ever using an alarm clock, by definition, you're not getting enough sleep. So my recommendation to you is do whatever it takes to get enough sleep but don't use the sleeping pills. All you have to do is Google side effects on any popular sleeping pill and you'll never take another one. Which you've got to figure out is how to get to bed when your body's ready to sleep.
And you don't have too much caffeine or other drugs in your body and your body, most of the time will fall asleep and you will wake up when there is enough sleep. Too many people feel like they have to be hard charging and stay late and attend late night events. And then watch TV till midnight one two in the morning, and then set an alarm clock to get up on it just that's not a pattern for long term success. I told you earlier my own system, which is instead of you're gonna laugh and say, oh, man, that's pathetic. But what I try to do is get away from any screen any sort of electronic stimulation by nine o'clock and read an actual paper book. Typically by 10 o'clock, I fall asleep and apps that some form of interruption or disruption, I wake up at six and I have a full night's sleep.
I'm fully rested And I can attack the world. If you tell me you are reading from 10 to 11, and you fall asleep and you just wake up at five or six, feeling fully rested, well, that's great that works for you. There is a range most experts contend between seven and nine hours of sleep at what anyone individual needs. But if you're consistently getting by on six and a half, six, five, chances are you're simply fooling yourself and you are destroying your productivity because your brain is simply not functioning at full capacity. So do what it takes to get sleep. You heard me mentioned before, I sleep with earplugs, I sleep with a sleep mask, I sleep with a noise, white noise machine.
All of these things increase the odds that I sleep well decrease the odds of any disruptions. You might not need that you might think that's excessive. That's okay. Do what it takes to get a grip night's sleep on a regular basis. I promise you you will not regret it.
