In the long run productive people don't work overtime. pologize. If that sounds mean or cruel or harsh, certainly there may be times in your life you're in college, you're struggling to just pay your bills. And overtime is the only way to do it. But long term, if you're working in a job that requires overtime, just to make ends meet, you're in the wrong field, you need to transition to something that values your time more. And you need to have something that values your final output your final creative outputs more than just time punching a clock.
The reason this is so important is you're going to burn out if you don't have time for fun relaxation, family, friends. It's going to destroy your productivity in the long haul, highly productive people focus their energies in concentrated amounts. To create great results. If you're working 1214 hours a day, there's no way you can be on an intense level 14 or 16 or 18 hours a day. Unless it's some sort of an emergency or crisis. It's not a long term, sustainable pattern.
And if you're doing all this overtime, it means you cannot be reading about new stuff you're trying to learn. You cannot be reflecting you can't be experiencing new aspects of life to make you grow as a person, and to help you get even more specialized in your area of expertise. So I understand we've all done it from time to time, but long term, you don't want to be in a situation where your success is somehow dependent on putting in overtime. That's not what highly productive people do.
