We are all creatures of habit. Show me someone who's wildly successful and I'll show you someone who typically has very strong habits. Show me someone who is unproductive, unsuccessful. Quite often, you'll see someone who has poor daily habits. Bill Gates famously claimed he never took a single day of vacation his entire 20s that is a serious work ethic. I'm not advocating that I don't think that works for most people.
I think most people would burn out or go crazy. But I do think the idea of showing up and showing up regularly is important. You look at so many wildly productive people, whether it's in the field of professional sports, computer science, finance, so much of their success is just that they focus on it every single day they give their prime waking hours Where they're most alert, most creative, most productive focus on that one thing. And the good news is you don't have to work 365 days a year like Bill Gates to be successful or to be productive. You can have vacations, you can take time off. You can have weekends.
But you can't just work when you feel like it. You can't just work when you're inspired. You can't just work when you're finding motivation. You have to show up every single work day
