Productive people and highly successful people often use fun as their guide in life. This seems counterintuitive we think of as the productive person was the discipline, sit down at a desk, fill out that paperwork hour after hour, get the work done. Now the most productive people often say what's fun, what can be fun to do? And how can I do more of it because if you find something fun, you don't have to spend a lot of willpower trying to motivate yourself to do it. I think willpower is an overrated when it comes to productivity. If you love chocolate, you don't need to use a bunch of willpower to eat more chocolate each month.
It just naturally is going to happen. And productive people are constantly trying to look at what are all the things they need to do on what to do and then what is the fastest way of getting there. Everybody needs exercise in life right to be healthy. Well, someone who's only focused on productivity might say, Well, let me go on the treadmill. And if I can do eight miles an hour for 14 minutes, that'll burn the calories I need. The problem is, if you love playing tennis and you hate going on the treadmill, it's going to be really hard to motivate yourself to get on that treadmill or to go to the gym and get on the treadmill.
Far better to look for ways of playing tennis. I actually hate going on the treadmill. And I love playing tennis. So I try to play tennis several times a week. When I am on the treadmill, it's usually for about 60 seconds. So that's my challenge to you is look for things that are fun to do that will help you get to where you want to go.
Not everything is fun in life. I understand that but many things are if you Start off under the assumption of there's going to be fun under the rock here somewhere. Where can it be?
