Now let's take a look at the project which was which is the point of discussion. In 2006, RTL was ready to launch GPRS service, they had acquired the required hardware and they required a billing system to support this hardware so that they could launch the GPRS service. The GPRS essentially expands to general packet radio service. What it means is that using GPRS RTL could provide data services to their mobile customers that is on their mobile phones, they could access internet and deal with internet. This service was not there in RTL till 2006 actually till about September 2006. till that point of time, RTL only provided voice services that is telephone voice telephony and SMS services. Shown here is the schematic diagram of a GPRS network.
Essentially RTL already has the base stations which is required for connected to the mobile phones. However, they required to get the GPRS gateways, the GG SN and the S GSM. So, apart from that, they required the billing system at the back, which would support the billing of the services utilized by their subscribers on the data services. RTL acquired the GPRS gateway from Huawei. So our part was to make the IT solution for billing the GPRS services based on the data which was acquired by the GPRS gateway. Next, let's see what happened during the project negotiation.
