Let us understand first why we focus our awareness on the physical sensations. How does this help us with transforming our sufferings? First we realize that when we focus on tension on the physical sensations, we're turning our attention away from stimulating the mind, which can lead us negatively reacting to the negative experience. Much like anger can be blowing up if we keep thinking about the person that we're angry about. If we were practicing the focus on something that is imagined, for instance, visualization, they would never develop a common steel mind.
So by not placing the focus on the mind and on the physical sensations on the body, what we're doing is simply observing what's already there. And this helps us to pull us back to the present moment. And also forms of sufferings will manifest itself as a negative physical sensation on the body. By simply learning how to observe these negative physical sensations with stillness, we're learning how to let go of the negativity rather than becoming I'm attached to them. We're learning not to judge them, but to observe them as they are. And at a deeper level of the mind, when you try to be as still as possible, observing this suffering as this, whether it be pain or pleasure, whether it be impatience, anger or worry, by trying to let go of these, you're actually developing love and compassion towards yourself.
Because you're finally asking your physical self, your mental self, your emotional self, oh level for self, to let go of the suffering. Realize that developing acceptance to itself is the key to transforming our sufferings. In this meditation session, try to accept everything. For instance, your worries, your Patience, your wandering thoughts even the noise around you. simply accept and observe them with a still mind. In chapter five, discovering the sufferings. We learned that a seed cause of sufferings come from negative ideas and these ideas which promote the rejection of the cell that's to transform forms of sufferings, we will always ultimately have to face the spiritual lessons concerning the acceptance of the self. Whenever you face a person that has made you angry, simply focus not on them, but on the negative physical sensations that you experienced on the body. observe it with stillness, and gradually the anger will slowly disappear.
