Sequencing is critically important when telling stories. They like this, if you're baking a cake and you're following a recipe, it wouldn't taste very good. If you turn the oven on long after you have put all the ingredients in the oven and pulled it out, there's certain things that have to be done at certain times. Otherwise, you're not going to bake a cake. It's exactly the same thing with a story. If you don't introduce the characters first, tell us what the problem is.
We're not going to care about the conflict or the dialogue or the resolution or the where the principle to be learned from the story. So you have to have the sequencing laid out so that it makes sense. This is where it's good to practice on video test test on others. Are they following you? Sometimes you can get so close to a story. You can leave out important details that still makes sense to you.
Doesn't make sense to anyone else.
