Final thing to think about when it comes to adding humor in your storytelling is you can dissect it, chop it, slice it, dice it all day long. At some point. People either find it funny or they don't. You don't have to be wildly funny to be a good storyteller. The more humor you have, generally, more people will like you, the more they will remember you, the more your other messages go down. So it does behoove you to try to think about how can you add elements of humor in your presentation?
Bottom line is if it works, it works. keep using it if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. And this the ultimate authority is not me. It's not any other public speaking coach or humor coach, the ultimate authority is your audience.
