Welcome to the course on breathwork, breathing, and the importance of meditation. We will be looking at why deep breathing is so important for good health. Health is the new wealth in today’s world. You can have all the money in the world, but if your health is bad, you can’t enjoy your life. Well done for making such a great choice and enrolling in this course to take back control of your body with your mind and your breath together. The mind has a natural yearning to be in the moment with the body. Focusing the mind and body together on the breath is a big step to taking back control of not only your body but your brain also.

We will be looking at the autonomic nervous system. This can get quite complex, but I have whittled this subject down to what I needed to know to help me master changing my state quickly so that I can share this with you easily. Sometimes it takes me longer than at other times to change my nervous system state, but I can. We need to tap into the natural way the body works in order to do this. Imagine this scene for a moment. When a gazelle is being chased by a lion in nature and the lion doesn’t catch the gazelle and it has the opportunity to calm down. The gazelle almost straight away goes back to grazing naturally and falls back into the parasympathetic nervous state. That is the rest digest and healing state.

We, humans, live in a very stressful world now, and it seems we are stuck for long periods of time in the sympathetic nervous state. This is the fight or flight state. We will learn why this is not good for us. We need a good balance, and you will understand that by the end of this course.

We will also be looking at scientific studies backed up by real-life experiences on how this actually works. I have been working with people for many years now and have built up my own empirical evidence. These are my own experiences that have sat alongside the scientific evidence that makes me realize that we all need to be empowered with this knowledge to live a happy and anxiety-free life.

We will also be delving into the autonomic nervous system, the importance of the gut-brain connections, and what the ideal energy flow of the body is. We will also learn how deep breathing improves your motor-sensory skills, that is learning new things, and how this is actually recreating your brain. One of the most amazing aspects of being a human being is our capability of change. Let me know when things start changing for you in this course. I would love to hear about your empirical evidence.

I have prepared simple exercises that you should do twice a day for a short time only, to allow your body and your mind to create new habits for yourself. If we want to change, we need to change our subconscious, and the best way to do that is through creating new habits with repetition. The least amount of time to do this is in 21 days and this course should really take you 5 weeks to complete if you stick to the schedule. Keep a journal of all the sensations you feel, be it good or bad, and keep them safe for future reference. This will ensure you get the maximum benefit from the course.

Unfortunately, there is no magic pill or silver bullet for you to make these changes, but with perseverance and willpower, you will. I look forward to seeing you in the next video. And don’t forget, be well and keep shining.

Peter.
