Each of us wants to be happy, and each of us wants to find purpose in our lives. However, we all have to do certain things to enable us to live, and one of them is to work. Unless of course, you are independently wealthy. Working as a way to make a difference in the world or just a way to make ends meet. We may love our job or hate it. But since it plays such a large part in our lives, we need to make sure that the way we perceive it is in our own best interest.
We know what stress can do to our health and state of mind. We know what being around people that annoy us continually can do to our frustration level. Sometimes we feel as if we have to move faster, work longer hours, work harder, do more. Just to get ahead. We feel Like little ants carrying our burdens trying to get done so that we can have a few moments to ourselves. But then there are other obligations such as getting the kids off to baseball practice or art class, or taking care of your ill mother.
No matter what you feel you need to do in life, there never seems to be enough time, things begin to stack up upon one another, and then our attitude may turn to negativity, and we may be inclined to respond to any stimulus in a fight or flight mode, instead of taking a moment to step back and look at any situation. But if we can get to a place where we can detach emotionally from anything life throws at us, we can see it from a position of being our own best friend. Rather than taking things too personally, or having our buttons pressed instantly. It means being able to respond with compassion for everyone involved, including ourselves, accepting our thoughts and feelings objectively rather than reacting instantaneous. Obviously, not judging the experience and not allowing our emotions to get the better of us. We simply look at the situation with increased awareness and then decide what action to take.
This is the art of mindfulness. The benefits of mindfulness strengthens the immune system, and improves our responses to stress and negative emotions. It can improve our social relationships with just about anyone we come into contact with. And it also reduces stress, depression and anxiety. In addition, it adds positive feelings such as an increased well being and more happy feelings. So please join us for mindfulness
