Now that I've showed you how you can optimize your images using our social media cheat sheet, as well as optimize your graphics, let me go a step further and then show you how you can optimize your images even more after you save them from Photoshop. Or if you have been using some external website or some other app for your images. For Windows, it's called riot. So radical image optimization tool, it's completely free and you can download it and use it. And I'll explain in this course, using this Riot because I'm using a Windows but for Mac, you have something called image optimum. So image optimum.com forward slash Mac, you can click download for Mac it's, of course free, both of them.
For Mac, you have like 1000 different options. Some of them are paid, some of them are free. So if you don't like this one, you can play around and test as well for Windows. You don't have as many options as You have on a Mac, but you can find some and then try and test and see which one works for you. So, I have right here our dimensions folder that we used for a discourse. We have our images that we saved as well as the original social media cheat sheet.
And I pulled another image from the site called that to stock photo.com. It's free and you can use their images inside of your projects free of charge. They go by the CC zero license, which which means that you can use those images for free in any of your personal and commercial projects without having to credit the original author of the image. So when I hover as you can see, the image is 5645 pixels wide by 3763 pixels tall, so nearly six by 4000 pixels. It's a huge issue. And as you can see the size is 11.2 megabytes.
So when I fire up my riot, let me quickly pull it. This is how it looks like Sorry, I'm working with two monitors. That's why I have to reach to my right. So it's extremely simple. Everything is optimized right from the get go. So you don't have to change any of the settings if you don't want to.
For example, quality of the output image is set at 80%, which is more than enough for most people, you can increase or decrease the size. You can go with standard optimize or progressive Chroma sub mapping and so on. You have so many options, but basically, you can download it, it's free, install it and use it right away you have amazing results. So first things first, let me show you this huge image. So as we say, 11 Point two megabytes in original size, click Open. We're going to locate our folder, here it is, click on the image, simply click open, then it will show you this dialog, because it wants to retain the original aspect ratio, which is rectangular, I'm sorry.
Well, yeah, rectangular in this case. So it's landscape and it wants to retain that resolution and that aspect ratio, so just simply click Yes. Next, it's going to show you the original dimensions and you want to keep this checked all of the time, because it's going to keep the aspect ratio as is. So it's going to resample it and scale it down in order to save the file size, but it's going to keep the original aspect ratio resampling filter you can leave as leave it as it is you will see Okay, and now what's the most amazing thing about this, as you can see, we have started with the image which is 11.3 megabytes in size. And the optimized image is 2.8 megabytes. So as you can see just this one simple step with a simple free tool, which you can download and use right away without tinkering with anything, simply install, use and save.
That's it. Just see how much of the space you have saved. Now imagine you're taking your images by phone, you have a limited space inside of your phone. You don't want to buy some SD card, or some extender or some solid solid. Just use this tool. It will save you the most time.
But keep in mind, you want to have your images optimized using our social media cheat sheet before you are using this tool, because this is the last step in this process. So just simply click save, it will replace the original image. So just keep that in mind, you might might want to make a copy if you need to click Yes. And that's it. Now when we close it, you can see when I hover, it's 2.79 megabytes, it used to be 11 megabytes. So when I double click to open it up, go right here.
As you can see, the quality is still the same, it still retained the original aspect ratio of the image when it zoom inside, you can see image is still quite large, but still extremely high quality. So as you can see, you're not losing anything is just working its magic in the background, so you can optimize these images even further. And now we're coming to the images that we already saved from our social media cheat sheet. So as you can see, these images are quite small because we already optimized them. Have the Photoshop before we save them out. But once again, if I want to fire up my rat, come back to the open and choose for example, this Facebook event image original size is 1920 by 1080 pixels and size of the image is 744 kilobytes.
Open it up. Click yes again, click OK. And as you can see, initial image is 744 optimized image is 67. So that's huge. The advantages of this are quite clear. It will take you less time to upload this image because it's tiny in size. It will take Instagram much shorter time to show it to your followers on your feet.
And it will take less time for the viewer, especially viewers inside of the countries with small slower internet speeds. So, for example, if you are used to, let's say, American speeds of the internet, they are not the same. If you have customers, for example, who are living in India, or in some developed country, their internet speeds are quite slower, they are relying on their mobile internet, not so much on the Wi Fi. Maybe they are traveling, maybe their reception is bad. So keep all of this in mind, especially if your audience is broad and worldwide, and especially if they're coming from the let's call them third world countries but with basically countries with slower internet speeds. So keep all this in mind.
And when you when they lose, for example, their internet in the middle of the travel and so on. It will take your image much, much less time to appear in their feed because it's much smaller in size. So it will retain even if they don't have internet speeds. If For example, their browsing on Instagram, let's say they lose internet speed, your image will still be shown because it's optimized and it's smaller in size than all the other images simply taken and then upload it with their phones or cameras or whatever, because your image is much smaller and it will be saved inside of I think it's called the cache memory. And then those people will still be able to see your image and appreciate it without their internet. I hope that makes sense.
So just click Save. And as you can see, we started with 744. We are now at 68. Click Yes. And that was Facebook event image. When I come to it, you can see 67 double click to open it up.
As you can see, quality is still quite high, but it will upload in a jiffy because we saved it from this files. To this file size, so Riot and image, opt in for Mac, download use them it will change your business
