California Harassment Prevention Training for Restaurant Employees

This one-hour course meets and exceeds harassment prevention training requirements for California State Bill 1343. It will introduce you to the different types of discrimination and harassment that may occur in the workplace. It includes sexual harassment, gender sensitivity, unconscious bias, and bullying behaviors. You will gain the knowledge and skills to help build a harassment-free workplace. Upon completion of all the activities, you will be awarded a certificate of completion that is valid for up to 2 years.

Students will:

• View educational slides.
• Listen to employees and managers workers share experiences of sexual, and gender harassment and bullying harassment in the workplace.
• Reflect on your own actions at work and how they affect others.
• Complete brief questionnaires to determine understanding and education.
• Have an opportunity to email the instructor with questions. Responses will be received within 48 hours.

Topics include:

• Employee State and Federal Employment Rights.
• State and Federal laws regarding discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
• Two main types of Sexual Harassment.
• What to do to prevent harassment.
• What to do if you experience it or witness someone being harassed.
• What your employer will do to protect you and stop harassment?
• And abusive conduct or bullying.

At the end of the training, you will be directed to print your certificate of completion, provide a copy to your supervisor (if applicable), and retain a copy for your records.

We are confident the material in this course will help you to have the knowledge you need to create a harassment-free environment for you, your fellow employees, and guests and will educate you in avoiding behaviors that can lead to negative employment and legal actions.
