In this video, we'll look at how to add more information to each card. And we'll start with description. Then we'll go along attachments, due dates and comments. So to start things off, you can click on a card and you'll notice that a pop up will appear. And within this pop up window, there's a lot of information that we still haven't filled up yet. So the most obvious one is a description.
Certain tasks would be quite straightforward, such as pick up kids, but there'll be more tasks as you go along might require you to put in more information just so that you can remember what to do. But also if you're collaborating with other team members and especially if you will working remotely, it's best to have some form of description. It's really up to you how much details you want to put into the description. For my rule of thumb, I would just put something very short and very straightforward. And I've been practicing this enough that my own cards would have a very descriptive task description. So I don't usually muddle around with description that much.
So, at any rate, if you want to add a description, it's very simple. Just click here and start typing. For example, let's go with In this example I just add the location where the kids are at their uncle Joe's. You can even edit the description. So in Trello A lot of things are editable. You can also mention someone at and then you type in the username.
However, you will need team members to be on the board first before you do this, but just to highlight that, it's a possibility. Now the next thing you can add on Your cards would be attachments. So right here, there's a button for attachment. So when you click on it Trello ask, Where would you like to get the attachment from, whether it's your computer from another Trello board, you can even sync with Dropbox or Google Drive. So for example, let's just click on Google Drive here, you'll have to sign into an account, give Trello permission to have access to it. And then once you've done that, it will be much easier for you in the future to just quickly link directly to Google Drive or Dropbox or whichever location you have your files from.
If not, you can always attach the link here. Or you can do it manually by going to your Windows Explorer file, Windows Explorer folder. So let's see what we have Sample I take this image right here, I can just drag and drop and then you will see the image pop up. By default Trello will immediately use the first image as a cover. So as you can see if I zoom out here, right now this card will display the image as a cover. So this is one of the ways where Trello stands out more than other project management tools.
Because it's using the graphical aspects, the visuals to make things much more clear. And it looks pretty good. It's nice to look at. However, if you feel like it's a nuisance, you can always remove cover. The attachment will still stay but it will stop you Using the image as a cover as you can see here, it's no longer there. You can also add in links.
So for example, I have YouTube open here. If I just copy paste this link and I'll add it as an attachment and give it a name and it will appear right here. And if you click on it, it will immediately open up the link. You can also remove it, comment on it, so you can easily remove attachments to see remove. Same thing with me I can just delete. Now there's also an option to comment.
So if you click comment directly on the image that you have attached, it will automatically generate a link to allow people to know that you are referring to this image when you're commenting. So for example, let's say I add a comment here. Click Save. So as you can see, at the activity section below, there'll be an update on the comment I just mentioned, and it's referring to this attachment image. You can also comment directly in this box And just like everything else you can always edit and make changes as you go along. The comments will be useful later on when you add team members as well.
You can mention their names and you'll be notified. Another thing you can add to your Trello cards would be due dates. So click over here. Then there'll be a calendar popped up, choose the due date that you want. And depending on a due date, it will show the time and a color that represents urgency. So yellow means it's coming close to the due date.
If let's say for example, you put something that's overdue, it will be read if you put something in front Future it'll just be great. You can also select this checkbox right here to indicate that it's done. So there's another way to indicate that a task is done and the color will change to green. So this is again another example of how Trello uses visuals to represent a certain status. You can still drag this to done. It's really up to you.
This gives you more flexibility when you are coming up with different formats and structures for your Trello board.
