So how do you make and use notes during a presentation, the technique I use is very simple. I create bullet points I number it I make the font larger is this for example. These are the notes I have for an hour long speech PowerPoint presentation on how to speak effectively to the media. I have it on a single sheet of paper I've cut out the sides and the edges to make it as small as possible. The font is large so I can look at it without using my glasses and I just have it on a lectern on a table. Typically what I do is I will have three copies of this and I'll have them around the room.
That way I don't ever have to stand in one spot. consistent. I don't have to stand behind the lectern. I don't have to stand next to a table. I can have my notes throughout the room. That way walk around and appear to just be talking to people To be in the moment, having a real conversation with people.
And I don't have to give myself any pressure to memorize anything, I don't have to worry about having a perfect memory. If I didn't get a good night's sleep because my plane connection was lost and I had to travel through the night, it's not really going to affect the speech or presentation. Because I don't have to be at top peak performance. To deliver the presentation remember anything because I have a simple roadmap right here. Of all the tips I give people this for whatever reason is the one they tend to follow the least. People put all this energy into, you know, memorizing their speech, you don't need to memorize your speech, or they go the other extreme of having all their notes 10 pages out there and they're fumbling around and it causes distraction and causes a focus on the notes.
The beauty of having it on a single sheet of paper. You never Never have to touch it. You never have to pick it up. By making the font larger. You don't have to bend over it or put on glasses. So it's quite easy to use notes to use them regularly and no one has any idea.
Anytime people see me speak, they just assume I'm talking to them. And I'm not using notes but the fact is, I'm always using notes. You can too and you can get credit as though you were speaking with no notes if you follow these simple tips.
