Should you wear glasses when giving a speech or presentation. Now I'm wearing glasses now, but I don't actually wear glasses when I'm giving a speech. I'm wearing glasses. Now because I'm looking at notes. I'm looking for the next one. I have some notes on my computer screen.
But I do not recommend wearing glasses when you speak unless you always wear glasses. Now if you're someone who wears glasses, all the time for distance and reading, don't feel the need to take your glasses off when you're giving a speech. But if you only wear your glasses for reading, I would recommend not wearing glasses when you're speaking because here's the reason I want there to be as few barriers as possible between you and your audience. I want them to see you. Now these are relatively unobtrusive glasses. They don't have big past plastic frames with with color.
They don't have a lot of metal. In fact, they're really just clear plastic, which is why I wear them. And I really only wear these for when I'm creating speaking video. The problem with a lot of glasses, they cast shadows on your eyes, and people can't see your eyes or they have reflections. So even these glasses, which are supposed to be reflection proof, you can still see depending on the angle, some reflection and it causes distraction. There is this theory out there.
I would call it a myth that somehow people will perceive you as smarter if you wear glasses. That is just a bunch of baloney. Now, if you wear glasses, I'm not telling you to throw your glasses away. But all things being equal, you don't need your glasses for when you're speaking, don't wear them. Now if you need your glasses for reading and you're using notes, do what I do, simply make the font larger on your paper and you won't need glasses for when you're speaking
