If you've done what I've asked, you should be feeling pretty comfortable now fairly confident about your introduction, your ability to introduce yourself in front of small groups or large groups. Now, let's do one more test. I want you to take that best video that you made of yourself. And I want you to email it to several friends. But I want you to do in a particular way I want you to call a friend, email it to them right then and say, Hey, Bill, or Hey, Sandy, I just emailed you something. Can you take a quick look, I just need your feedback.
It's only 30 seconds long. Ideally, they're at a computer, they're at a desktop or someplace where they can actually click on it. Watch it, hear it while you're on the phone. And then right after they've heard it, and you can hear it coming through the phone, ask them hey, I just wonder if you can give me some feedback. What did you like it That, What do you remember about it? See what they say?
And if they just say, Oh, you know, everything's professional, that's great. means we probably didn't say something interesting. You want them talking about the specific thing. You mentioned the hook. You also want them to say, well, you seem relaxed, comfortable. Ideally, you have them comment that they didn't even know you had that special report or that book or that special white paper you're giving away they'd like it themselves.
I would also ask if there's anything they don't like. If they say, well, you seem scared or that product giveaway sounds really cheesy. It sounds like an infomercial. Listen to them, doesn't mean I would change everything just based on what one person says. But here's my challenge to you. I want you to call five people.
Try to talk to at least three. Let's get some independent verification you already feel good. About your introduction because you've watched it, you practice it and watch it to the point where you like it. But if you have independent verification from others, telling you what the message is that they get it that they like it, you're coming across Well, that's going to further boost your confidence and you're going to be fantastic. The next time you have to introduce yourself, but there's also a possibility that you are missing something that you're using an acronym or an initial missus. This is frankly a big problem with a lot of associations.
Hi, I'm TJ Walker CSP. And I bought Well, no one outside the couple thousand members of the professional Speakers Association know what CSP is, and it's just confusing. My advice other than MD, or JD, I wouldn't use any initials for introducing yourself as I wouldn't even use those initials. By the way, I'm not a CSP. I don't want anyone thinking. I'm in credentials here.
So I want you to call five friends associates, colleagues, send them the video. Ask them to watch it right then you want the immediate feedback, their immediate response. do that right now.
