Events can be an incredible tactic for building your brand, boosting your reputation, and also building direct relationships with journalists and target customers. But running a successful event requires very careful planning and management. In this lesson, we're going to cover everything you need to do to get yourself organized before the big day. When you're planning a promotional event, there's a lot to think about. An event is a campaign, which means you need to think about an amazing angle that will get your audience interested in your event and motivated to attend. These could include influential or famous guests or speakers.
A while venue, a once in a lifetime experience, the opportunity to preview something before general release giveaways. And once you've decided on your angle, you need to be honest with yourself, will the right people really want to attend then you need to get stuck into all the logistics These include, what format will your event take? What budget do you have for it? Where will you host it? Who's going to be needed to staff the event? Is the location appropriate?
Will people be able to get there easily? Who are you inviting? What transportation is required to get people to the event? Do you need to make accommodation available? When you get sponsors to support you with the event? How are you going to promote the event before, during and after?
What sort of collateral Will you need at the event? Are you going to be doing any filming? Are you serving food and drink? What are the timings and who's going to make sure you stick to those? Will the media be invited and who's going to look after them? And then all the basics of AV setup and Wi Fi at the event to make sure that there are no technical glitches?
Finally, how are you going to handle social media around the event? Be prepared for things to go wrong. Your speaker comes on with flu on the day it rains, the journalist gets drunk and misbehave. Sit down with your team and brainstorm everything that can go wrong so that you're prepared in advance. You now know how to host a great event. But do you want to add award winning to your company description.
In the next lesson, you'll learn all about the murky world of awards and how to turn it to your advantage.
