Hi, and welcome back. In this section, I'm going to talk you through some of the skills and attributes that will serve you well in your PR career. Don't panic though, if you don't possess all of these. It's not the end of the world. It's very rare to find a PR professional who is good at absolutely every element of the job. But I do think it's important for you to identify your own strengths so that you can play to those and also know where you need a little bit of extra support.
We have already covered writing for PR and being able to write well will serve you well. The most creative campaigns get the best results, but creativity is also about how you approach problems. Are you a Creative Problem Solver? Can you find a way to make something work despite the obstacles, pitching the media, getting buy in from your boss or your client, and even getting a PR job require persistence and hard work? If you're deterred by the first sign of a problem, you won't get very far sloppy work is very visible, you need to be the person who does their eyes and crosses their T's. You will need to present to your boss clients and other stakeholders.
Being able to do this well is important. As I hope you've learned in this course, good PR is about measuring, analyzing and improving, you need to be able to analyze and report on results. Social media is a very important element of digital PR. It helps if you're comfortable on a lot of social networks, the ability to think through some of the issues that might arise and to plan for them, as well as the ability to think of how campaigns will deliver specific business outcomes is one of the hardest elements of PR. If you can build your strategic skills, then you will be well on your way to becoming a PR superstar. Pr is crazy.
You never know what's going to crop up and require your immediate attention. You therefore need to be able to manage your time extremely well to be successful. things go wrong. You need to be able to think on your feet. Pr can be hard. The ones who succeed are the ones who stick it out.
Don't worry though, the fact that you've got this far in the course is a very good sign.
