If you forked out the cache from my lesson, I'm assuming you're at least a little bit familiar with Freddy kings instrumentals. But just in case this is all new to you, I'd like to recommend a few CDs and LPs that contained the songs covered in this series, plus many others featuring Freddie's great guitar playing. In the early 1960s, Freddie put out two LPs containing nothing but instrumentals. The first is called Let's hide away and dance away with Freddie king. The other one is called Freddie gives you a bonanza of instrumental hits. These two LPs contain almost all of his best instrumental songs.
There's also an import compilation on both vinyl and CD. It's called just picking and it has both of the aforementioned LPs eye on both versions vinyl and The CD and have spent hours listening to the songs in both formats. If you're willing to spend 20 bucks for a vinyl record, you can buy the LP called Freddie King go surfing, that features a mix of his instrumentals complete with soothing wave sounds in the background. Actually, I've heard a few cuts from it and it's kind of kind of awesome. There's also a variety of Freddie King compilations that include some of his instrumental songs. Along with his great vocal tunes.
I found one called Freddie King Guitar Hero Volume Two that includes alternate versions of washout and butterscotch. In addition to songs I'd never heard before, including one called overdrive an instrumental in the key of A recently a new compilation of Freddie's recordings for both lb and King federal, was released. It's called Texas oil. It has alternate versions of funnybone and many other great tunes. I cannot talk about Freddy kings recordings without mentioning the LPS. It really started me wanting to learn his style.
It's a vinyl LP, called Freddie kings Greatest Hits put out by King federal. I got this on a cassette from a friend in the 80s and worked out trying to learn Freddie's guitar licks. It's a nice mix of his vocal and instrumental tunes. I'm not a big fan of Freddie's later recordings made after his departure from King. I prefer the king federal recordings and especially the instrumentals. So in this lesson series, I will teach you what I know and love best.
Be sure to listen to the original recordings before trying to learn each song. That being said, let's start learning some Freddy K.
