This lesson is not just about light and dark. We do need to learn how to switch off. Literally. Set a time to switch off your phone, computer, TV and bright lights, and stick to it! We also need to switch off metaphorically, as in switching off our worries, to-do lists, plans, and fears. This takes practice, and sometimes therapy. But a worry list or keeping a journal is a good place to start. Meditation also helps us to practice the discipline of awareness and changing focus which is very useful at bedtime when our mind wants to keep going with the day.
