Hello, everybody. Welcome to the C one advanced. That's ca writing paper video course. In this video lesson, I'm going to show you the format of the cae writing exam paper. But before we look at that, let's have a quick look in general at the overall see one advanced exam, of which there are four papers. But this first paper is like two different sections.
They put in the same paper accounts for 40% because they combine the reading and the use of English which is grammar, the equipment on paper, really it's two different sections. Then you have the listening just 20% Writing which is 20% and the speaking which is 20%. So more or less 20% each of the five sections. If you'd like to look at this in more detail, you can pause this video now, but we are going to move on to look at the writing paper more detail. So, how long is the writing paper? in total?
It lasts for 90 minutes. There are two different parts. Part one is an essay and you cannot choose from different questions. You are given one question which you need to answer. This is an essay you need to write between 220 and 260 words whereas in part To you are given a choice of three options. And these could be either for a letter, an email, a proposal, or report or view.
We don't know which three questions they will ask you, but it will be on one of these five topics. And again, you have to write between 220 to 260 words. So for the essay, I recommend that you take 45 minutes. The writing paper is 90 minutes in total, there are two parts, so each part should be 45 minutes. So, if you have 45 minutes to write the essay I recommend taking five years to plan your writing at the beginning, thinking about the structure and the organization and your main point, five minutes to check your writing at the end. This is so important.
And candidates lose lots of marks because they don't read their work. If you read your work, you will notice some mistakes that you made, maybe spelling mistakes. Maybe the verb is incorrect, the subject and it's so frustrating when students lose marks like this, because if they just read over their work, they can correct these mistakes. And so that leaves you 35 minutes to write chart. style is appropriate part one and part two. We will look at that in more detail when we're focusing on the marking criteria.
In the next lesson but just as a quick overview now, I will tell you that the examiners mark you based on content, communicative achievement, organization, and language. As I said, we're going to focus in more detail on each of these four marking criteria in the next video. So again, the writing paper in total is 90 minutes. So spent 45 minutes on part one, and 45 minutes in part two. That means you should take five minutes to plan the beginning of your writing, five minutes to check at the end of your writing and 35 minutes to write As I said before style is appropriate. And your style should depend on what the different writing task is that you choose for part two.
And it's the same four criteria as for part one, just content communicative achievement organization. So before we finish this video lesson is a very quick tip for you. As I said earlier, always read over your work. Save that five minutes at the end, because it will save you a lot of marks in the exam. So please, please please read over your work. Once you've finished writing.
Save time to do this. And in the next lesson, I'm going to have a look at the marking criteria. And I hope you enjoyed this lesson. So thanks for watching, and I'll see you in the next lesson. Bye bye
