So today we're going to be making animals from a single cube. This is my cute little giraffe test also made a little frog. And I changed his eyes so that it can be 3d printed. And I also did one have an elephant where we push the eyes inward. So we're going to make an elephant today out of a single cube. And it's a lot of fun.

So let's go ahead and get started and create a new project. And let's save it as and we'll call it box animal. And you can do any animal you want. If you're very new to blender, just go ahead and follow along with the elephant. But if you want to make anything else, make a crocodile, maybe just think of your favorite animal and try and make that or you can do it after we make the elephant and then share it on any social media with hashtag 3d block Zoo and that's a hashtag my friend Tessa from Cubase five created many years ago, but I thought it'd be fun to resurrect and start making some animals that we can all share with each other. And then who knows, maybe one day, we'll put it in a VR Zoo and everybody can come visit from all around the world and look at all the animals.

But let's go ahead and rename this cube to LA font. And that is our elephant. We're done. Just kidding. So make sure you have your cube selected and then hit control three, that will put a subdivision of three on your cube here. So if we go into tab or edit mode, you can still see we have a cube here, it has just been this kind of under the look of a of a of a sphere here because of this applier.

So if I turn this on and off, you can see it's just making it very, it's just adding a ton of polygons and making it round. So enough about what it does or why it's doing what it is. Let's keep that turned on. And now we're We're going to go into edit mode. And I want to teach you a few powerful tools. So you can hit face mode.

And let's grab one of these faces. And let's do a loop cut. So to do loop cut, you hit Ctrl R, and that's going to ask you which way you want it, do you want it up? Or do you want to do a loop cut sideways, so we can do either, well, let's do the up one first. And then you can scroll on your mouse wheel, or you can left click and add more cuts right here. So you can either scroll or add cuts here, and then hit select.

So now we've got these loop cuts going tollways. And now let's do another one Ctrl R. So let's go ahead and left click to confirm it, and it's wanting to know where we want it. So we can scroll on our mouse wheel or right click and add our loop number. Go ahead and confirm that by clicking and we'll just do the same thing on top here. So again with the loop cut, and then let's right click Increase the steps and confirm. So now we have like a Rubik's Cube thing going on.
