Let's go into that aspect of the Divine called nature. And from there go into the elements. Happy to introduce you to the elements and the energies that come from the elements. If you notice how I called in the elements, I called all the guides, guardians, allies, ancestors, angels and archangels of each direction. And all of those energies are here with us now communing with us, teaching us things, showing us things and facilitating this education. In my opinion, if you want to commune with the divine, a good way to do that is to choose slices of the Divine at a time, so that over a course of years of, you know, several different types of study over a longer period of time, you can start to understand just a little bit about That incredibly expansive perspective and consciousness that the divine has.
One of the ways to do that is to focus on a particular aspect of nature, which would be the elementals, earth, air, fire and water. This goes back to some of my Wiccan traditions, and each of the elements has a correspondence so you can get your hand out now. And all of those correspondences will help you deepen that relationship. Each element is associated with one of the spiritual, mental, emotional or physical aspects of our lives and with Tarot, many different correspondences, so I'll add some to what your handout has. And we'll also go into Center today. So we'll be talking about five elements.
Introducing you now to the element of East and air. Air is associated with the mind. So that would be the sword in the Tarot deck, the mind In the mental so anything related to our thoughts and our thinking or beliefs, what you can ask East for if you're willing to pray and commune with the divine in the east and air would be for mental clarity and illumination, peeling back those layers of confusion that you might have in your life. Anything that is in your blind spot that you want to illuminate and bring into your awareness is a really good way to work with that energy. Another thing that is associated with air is communication, and sound. So anything related to sound singing expression through the voice, speaking your truth, if you have trouble speaking your truth working with air is going to be powerful for you.
In fact, as we go through the elements, I encourage you to identify an element that you really relate to or resonate with, and we'll have a home play assignment at the end of the class. where I'll ask you to dedicate yourself for a period of time to the study of that particular element. And I think you'll get a tremendous amount of benefit. I've done that. And every time I do it with a new element or a new spirit guide, I get so much out of it, I learn a lot about myself, and I feel supported. So air is associated with the mind.
Now turning towards the south, an element of Fire. Fire is a transmutation of force. As you know, fire transforms wood, it takes wood and air and it makes ash and fire can burn things out of our way. It's associated with wands in the Tarot deck and it's associated with our spirituality. Fire is where you want to work with. If you feel a little bit disconnected from your soul or a little bit disconnected from your spiritual path, then fire would be a great place to start burning the way A forward burning your path clean and clear and open for direct communion with your own internal divinity.
Connected with the greater all that is other aspects of fire and South our creativity and inspiration so your souls inspiration, as you might express your essence through creative endeavors, creative projects, that would be a great reason to work with South if you have creative projects that have just been on the back burner for a really long time, and you want to bring those out into the light of day. Another aspect of South and fire is sacred sexuality, anything to do with sexuality sexual energy, intimacy is also the domain of South Empire. If you feel imbalanced that way, if you feel that your sexuality is not in full bloom in your life, I encourage you to work with with fire for that reason as well. Moving on to the west into the element of water. I reminded to I say that West is about endings in anything that you're wrapping up in your life, any chapters that you want to close people who have passed on or moved out of your life, you can send them into the West with a prayer, which means that I reminded myself in the East it's all about new beginnings and starting new things, opening new chapters in your life.
And going back to the west West is also about the rhythms of life The ebbs and the flows, they wave comes in, the wave goes out the tide comes in the tide goes out any of those natural rhythms in your life that you want to smooth out. So obviously water is really good for flow and fluidity and movement in your life. It's a cleansing force. It's a very gentle cleansing force. How long does it take water to wear down a rock like you know quite a while. If you have something in your life that you want to gently move out of your life, water is A great way of doing that can release those underlying attachments to things that you're keeping in your life for a little bit too long.
West and water are associated with our emotions. So they're associated with the cups and the Turo anything about your emotions. If your emotions are too Rocky, or your you feel distant from your emotions, and you just feel blank all the time, and you don't really know how to feel, pray to West and water to teach you about your emotional state. So those are some of the aspects of Western water. And if any of that related to you, if you felt resonant with any of that, then you may choose to study a little bit more with Western water. Moving on now to Earth in the north.
I suddenly just felt more grounded. Earth is really about our third dimensional reality here and our bodies and our lives in the material world. Earth fantastic to work with if you have any types of health issues and your body's aches, pains, mysterious things, you don't really know what they're about. The Trent standing tree nation and the rock people in the forefoot IDs are here in the earth in the north with us. And Earth here in this direction is a little bit different than the earth below us. You think of the earth below us as a bowl and a container who contains all the elements and everything.
It's the counterpart to the sky, the earth and the sky. Earth as an elemental, is really focused on the density of our third dimensional reality. In that regard, Earth is related to security and time management, keeping a roof over your head, all about money flow too. If anything in your life, you don't feel like you can manifest or materialize. Really what is it going to take for me to make this happen in my life? That is a really good reason to commune and work with Earth.
Bringing it into reality bringing things into physical form, making them concrete, those spiritual ideas that float around if they're bringing them home into reality. Moving on now to the element of center, one of my favorites, center ties everything together. As you noticed in the invocations at the beginning of the class, I called in center divine love consciousness at the end. It's the hub, you can imagine all the other elements are tying into center. Center is a place of mystery, that which into everything must return and from which everything is made manifest. It is that pivot point between creation and destruction.
So it's really the deep and profound mystery. It's also some of the highest vibrational energy in the elements. It works with the angelics works with the highest vibration of Our ascension process our spiritual evolution process. It's happening all the time, throughout all the generations. So working with center is also a way of working with divine love. And you can learn a lot about how divine love consciousness flows through everything in life, how everything is connected in unity, through that aspect of Divine Love, calling in center, and working with that mystery and finding out what it has to teach you.
Those are the elements and in the next segments, we'll be looking at how to set up altars for each of the elements. What would you put on an altar if you wanted to build one to each one or to the elements in order to deepen your study. Here we have a beautiful Eastern altar. I was lucky enough to find a yellow candle which I think you can too. And I'd like to tell you what some of these symbols are on this altar to go along. With the correspondences that we've already reviewed, we have a wing of one, a statue of a hummingbird.
We have an air scent, we've got this smudge stick here, which is incense and you know so incense and any kind of scented things are appropriate for East and air. Sound is also part of Eastern Air and that's why I had the bell here on the altar and all the feathers, also symbolizing the wing at once. This is an example of a type of altar you could set up for East if that's the element that you chose to deepen your relationship with any kind of symbols along these lines and also get creative. Anything that to you represent sound or music or thought is all appropriate for East and the element of air and alter in that direction. It is my pleasure to now introduce you to a typical alternative set up for self and fire. So there's a couple snake like creatures.
So dragons breathe fire, so they symbolize fire. The snake represents lifeforce energy. It's the Kundalini coil that goes up through the chakras from the base of the spine and ignites all of the chakras with passion. So that's a really good symbol to have on the altar. Traditionally, Snake represents fertility kind of looks like a sperm doesn't it. So there's a lot of reasons to have a symbol a snake on your altar.
The rattle can represent creativity and also that that rattlesnake sound that can also be associated with self. I have a sacred heart a flaming heart. There's because of sexuality here. I also have the sign of the sacred couple says a little teeny, tiny statue Shakti and Shiva in sacred and divine union. This is an appropriate symbol for South as well as central As we'll see when we look at the center altar, it is my great pleasure to introduce you to a typical altar setup for the West and the element of water. Water is an element that I feel very, very close to I consider myself a water priestess.
And I really kept the altar very simple today, because I could think of a million things to put on this altar. We've already gone through the correspondences of what Western water means. So we just have a couple small symbols here that I wanted to share with you. So this purple heart This is an amethyst. For me. Today this symbol is representing the emotionality, the emotionality of West.
These beautiful shells her mind is so the seashore and all those gorgeous places that have beaches and I really love to put fresh water on alter whenever I'm really focusing with West and with water. I can use this water to anoint myself, anoint my palms anoint my heart. And these are really just reminders of the connection that you have with West and water. You might set up an altar similar to this if you're devoting yourself to the study of this element and creating a deeper relationship with this element in your own life. Don't forget what is playful too. So here we have another sample altar threat dedicated to earth and north.
Got a couple of acorns here. Now acorn symbolizing the seed of a great tree, really good symbol to work with in earth about planting your own seed inside yourself and growing yourself up to be stronger and bigger. And of course it reminds us of the trees how strong and firm they are. This is pyrite. So it's a very, very grounding rock. Can't forget where we come from.
These bones remind us of our ancestors and remind us of the depth of ourselves our own mortality, and our own skeleton. And we also had the sacred vine from the rain forest. This is a great symbolic altar for working with your own relationship with earth. And if you're working with Earth in the way of manifesting healthfulness in your body, you might want to add some additional symbols on your personal altar related to health in the body. Maybe, you know particular types of seeds and nuts that you think symbolized your health. Enjoy celebrating and communing with Earth.
Not everyone picks center for their element to study center is representing the deepest mystery of creation and destruction all in one. This might be an example of an altar, you could say percenter a White Candle in this case I picked one, the version of the the Guadalupe, you can pick a solid white candle. I've got a gem here representing that pivot point between creation and destruction. And then I also have, as I mentioned at self, the sacred couple, creating the universe, as in manifesting the universe for us. I like to be reminded that center is always about love, always about that force of consciousness that connects everything in the universe, which is divine love. This is a dish of honey, it happens to be from one of my best friends, these and I like to put something like this to remind me of the sweetness of life, that even in the process of transformation, which is life, and sometimes it has ups and downs and tribulations and trials, always remember that no matter what you can Choose for life to feel sweet depending on your attitude and your approach to it.
So this might be a few things you could put on an altar to center. And you'd want to study your own relationship to that deeper mystery, and decide what you might want to put on an altar like this. I really encourage you to study center. It's a very powerful, powerful place that only you can understand in your own study of yourself and with intimacy with yourself. So I encourage you at some point in time, take a moment and study with center
