I like to introduce people to a healthy gratitude practice on a regular basis. And there's a number of reasons why I feel strongly about this. And it's not, I'm not your mom, I'm here telling you to be thankful for what you have. However, I am going to let you know the benefits of having gratitude practice. It's a lot about what we focus on in our lives, we get more of that. Anytime you focus on the negative, lo and behold, a little bit more negative kind of spills out over all of you.
And if you focus on the positive, then it's like somebody waved a magic wand. And it really, it's probably really just a matter of perception. When you focus on the positive all the time, something native might happen. you've trained yourself to see the silver lining. you've trained yourself. Well, so that happened, I'm learning something, you've seen something good in it, no matter what That is, that's part of a gratitude practice.
I encourage you to keep a gratitude notebook and write down your miracles that happen all the time. Over time you get more and more miracles, it's got a goal. The way I'm going to teach you about the gratitude practice today is gonna relate to each of the directions. And this will be part of each of the classes that we do in this whole series. I use the elements and I use the directions as a way to organize my thoughts about what I'm grateful for in my life. And every now and then when I feel like I'm overflowing with gratitude, or I feel like it's just been too darn long.
I light a candle on all of my altars, five altars for each of the elements. And I will sit in front of each altar for a goodly while just reciting all the things in my life that I'm grateful for that relate to that particular element. It's just a way of making of helping me ensure that I'm thorough, and that I'm not leaving something really important out. So if you can imagine what you might say, in your gratitude practice for East and air, you'd be grateful for any shifts of consciousness you might have inspirations, increased awareness that you might have finding your voice. Another moment where you set a good boundary with somebody where you created more trust with somebody through your words, or you spoke your truth, or maybe even expressed herself and took a risk to do that in song and singing, which is one of my favorite things to do.
And anything with mental clarity, maybe your mind felt like it worked better, you have greater memory or more vivid dreams, any of those types of things would be a perfect thing to thank Eastern Air for. And if you went to the south into the fire, you might give things for the creative inspirations in your life. You might get things for that. Fantastic Stick new lover, oh my god, your body feels so good because you're, you're getting your sexual needs met. Maybe you're feeling more connected and communing with your soul, and with the divine and that spiritual inspiration, those doors feel like they're open. So you'd give your thanks and your gratitude to south and fire for those types of things.
And in the West in the water, maybe there was an appropriate ending, maybe somebody left your life in a in an appropriate way. And you can give thanks for that ending. Or you may be able to give thanks that you've managed your emotions a little bit better, like Wow, it could have been really terrified and I decided to surrender. And thank you so much west for teaching me that lesson of not going into my fear. Another thing with rhythms, having the faith that when things go into their job, and there's a dip in your life, that if you've learned to float You know, you're going to come back up again and you have faith and trust that this is just a moment I'm going through a passage where it feels a little bit down. I know I'm going to get through that.
That ability to navigate your emotions, your fear about this current place that you're in, and know that it won't come back up again, giving things to West for manager emotions and for the faith in the flow coming back. All of those types of things, feeling like your life has been cleansed and purified in some way, giving thanks to Western water for those types of things. And in the north, anything that you're able to materialize and manifest in your life, I've got security, I've got good money coming in. I love my job. Those kinds of those kinds of lower chakra successes are things you can celebrate in the north. And any kind of physical health improvements are also things to be so grateful for in the center, you might give thanks for sublime realizations, gentle lessons, anything about love and intimacy and connectedness in the heart space, any of those really deep, esoteric mysteries that have been revealed for you, or if you've been handed some really amazing spiritual gifts and rewards, new tools or techniques, those would be things that you could be grateful for in that that ineffable mystery of center.
Those are some ideas. And we are going to do this gratitude practice for this particular class now. In this particular class, I want to give thanks to the east into the air for all those fresh beginnings for for helping us learn how to start our spiritual practice for clearing our mind opening our minds up to greater definitions of spirituality and Divinity allowing us to have new ideas about our spiritual practice. And giving you a moment now to take an opportunity to give thanks to East in your own way now giving thanks to south and fire for this class for all the souls inspiration that came through for us right now in this class and all the creativity, the new ideas, the all these new like tools and concepts that we can play with in our spiritual practice that's, that is souls creativity if I ever did hear it, giving thanks to South empire for all of that inspiration.
And please take a moment to express your gratitude a fire now to Giving thanks to the west into the water for a really smooth fluid flow through this class all this material, we did it we got through this glass and we can give things to to Wes and the water for all of that beautiful flow that we experienced today. Please take a moment and connect with Western water, gratitude to earth and to North for bringing these spiritual concepts Down here to Earth, making impractical how to set up an altar? What goes on the altar? How do I quiet my mind? How do I sit still and have a spiritual practice? What do I do all of these concrete things that we can do to walk in the world, and also especially to connect us with the elements to the physicality of our world, and the magic and the Divinity within just our physical realm here by connecting with elements.
So we give thanks to North for all of those types of lessons. Please take a moment with North yourself now. Giving thanks to center for tying everything together for anchoring the energy for introducing us to the temple in that safe container that we're in the idea of safe Good space, separating ourselves our spiritual practice from our mundane world, allowing us to be intimate with ourselves, allowing us to really receive our own souls lessons. And for some new ways to commune with the divine that we learned today. Please take a moment now give your own things to center.
