When you begin your spiritual practice, it's a good idea to shift your consciousness from the mundane hubbub of your daily world into a sacred, more intimate moment with yourself. It's a huge gift to give yourself those moments with your spirituality and those moments communing with the divine and all the different ways you love to do that. So this part is called setting sacred space. It can be as simple as sitting down in front of an altar, closing your eyes, shifting your consciousness. So one of the first ways of setting space is within ourselves, choosing to set the time aside. Another really profound way is to create sacred space inside your own mind by calming and quieting your Mind down.
We'll go back into why this is really important in just a moment. Let me show you a really quick, easy, simple mantra. I call it the western mantra for mental peace. All you have to say in your own mind is silent mind. Empty mind. Silent mind.
Empty mind. Silent mind, empty mind. Silent mind, empty mind. Anytime you get ready to sit down and meditate, and especially if you're one of those people like me has like chatty mind, like Oh, those thousands of things I need to get done and all those things that to tell people, silent mind, empty mind, silent mind, empty mine, and it settles right down. I've had my students tell me that they train up to this mantra within a week or week and a half. they've achieved peace of mind that they've never been able to achieve before.
So I offer you that as the first tool in setting sacred space. Another tool that I really appreciate and love that's again, very, very simple is a candle like this one. So when you light a candle and you're sitting in front of that candle, you can imagine that the glow the warm, beautiful, loving glow from that candle flame. The energy of that candle flame actually extends further out and creates a huge bubble around you. And in that bubble, is your sacred space. A sacred space is really an energetic container like we mentioned with the temple without boundaries.
So candle is a really profound way of doing that. Candles have another benefit. I just want to share really briefly. When I'm going through a lot of my life or I know somebody who's going a lot in their life, I light a candle candles have been used for Thousands of years and spiritual ways. And one of the things that happens with the flame is it can anchor energy. And you'll notice that I talk about energy all through the series in the candle flame.
You can call upon your sacred guides, you can call in the angels, the Ascended Masters, all of those divine beings who are here to facilitate and help us. Humans navigate this third dimensional reality this condense reality here. And you can call them into that candle flame and say, I need some support, I need some help. There's a lot going on right now, I need some facilitation of navigating this turbulent river that I'm, I'm in a boat, I'm navigating the river, however, it's a little intense. If you call in that assistance into the candle flame, it does a couple of things. First of all, they come and they listen and they stay in that flame.
So I'm a big fan of the tall candles if I'm going through something that More than just a day or two, they'll show up, they'll arrive. And they'll continuously offer you support in whatever you're going through. Likewise, with your friend who might live somewhere completely different, that candle is holding space for them to go through that successfully. So a candle can hold a prayer. That's a little tidbit of candle magic, it really works. And every time you look at the flame, you'll remember how supported you are.
That will give you that little boost of confidence, that little boost of faith. And who knows that that little piece in and of itself might be the scale tip or for you to just get through that turbulent time. The last way of creating space is kind of better for maybe a larger context, a bigger arena, and we'll go into that now. Now we have the opportunity to set sacred space, and we call this casting a circle. This is really just where you create an energetic line between the inner world that you're creating with your ritual and the outer world, and it's an energetic barrier, we're going to use our imagination and we're going to use our hands to create an energetic wall. I always start in the East for those.
And so as we go around, imagine that you're creating a wall up and down in a kind of a circular formation as we go from one direction to the next. casting a circle creating an energetic barrier, which prevents any negative energy from coming in and interfering with your ceremony with your ritual or with your meditation, with your prayer, whatever you're setting sacred space for And then when we get back here to East, we imagine the walls are kind of ceiling together. And now we have a circle all the way around us. And then what we do next is we imagine that there's a bowl shape underneath us. So we're just dropping an energetic boundary connecting the walls together underneath us. And we're creating a bowl above us.
And now we're in a sphere. And with our intention with our freewill, we have now created an energetic barrier to interfering energies in our space. So we've created a sacred space
