Now before we move I wanted to recap on what we've learned so far. In this section, we're learning about the device by the brain mind interface. What we've learned is that the thoughts are apps which are running on hardware, which is the brain itself. We've learned that we have the ability to create new thoughts, to really have an impact on the reality that we perceive. We're going to be diving more into the nature of reality towards the later lectures in this course. But today, I want to talk to you about a very important part which creates the synthesis between the mind and the brain.
We're going to be talking about mindfulness and awareness. Now what is mindfulness and awareness? Why is everyone talking about mindfulness What can we learn about mindfulness? What can we learn about awareness? And how can we use mindfulness and awareness along with the knowledge that we have about the hardware? And how the software which has the brain and the mind and the thoughts how does all this come together, we've learned about the everlasting now, we've learned about the eternal present moment in which we truly exist, devoid of the past, and the future.
Mindfulness is the lens through which we approach the Tao, through which we perceive reality. In the present moment, it allows us to have a unique perception without any of the filters of our conditioning and of all the thoughts that are running on our mind. Mindfulness is a parlous state, is a state in which we are able to limit the number of thoughts that we are incessantly faking throughout the day. It allows us to really close the apps if you don't use it. A mindful state is a state of pure potentiality. When we are so in the flow, that the result is effortless.
Mindfulness allows us to truly be rooted in the present moment and focused on the task at hand. This is the only way that we can complete a task, or live our lives with our truest potential. So how do we approach mindfulness? mindfulness allows us to remove all the unnecessary filters of conditioning of where you were born, where you grew up, who your friends are, your peers. Everybody has a direct impact on your state of being. Mindfulness allows us to let go of this conditioning to see through this conditioning so that we are able to arrive at authentic thought.
And we are able to use this authentic thought processes to gain an unadulterated view of reality. It is very important for us to understand, the state of being added can be learned. There is a myriad of techniques that we can use to live a more mindful life but at the root of all these techniques, but I would say the foundation of all these techniques realize meditation. Meditation is a process, which allows us to truly train the brain mind interface. It is a technique which allows us to close the apps that are not needed at this present moment. And to open the apps which are which allows us to remove the malware to remove the viruses which have been infecting a brain mind interface, this wonderful device which is sitting between our ears.
Meditation is a state of no mind. It is a thought less state. The goal of meditation is to achieve a thoughtless state is a state where we've closed all apps and then are consciously able to open or install the apps that we desire that are needed for our present circumstance that I needed for a present situation. So meditation is a journey. At first you will begin to experience glimpses of the know mind. These can last anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes.
But the practice and as time goes by, you will be able to expand the snow mine horizon and meditate for hours, if you wish. When you come out of a meditative state, you will experience immense bliss. As you shut down all the negative processes and apps within the brain mind interface, you'll experience clarity of thought. Just like when you reboot your smartphone to to speed things up. Similarly, you will find that your mind is now able to operate at a higher degree than ever before. Now, how do we start this journey towards meditation?
How do we truly embrace it into our lives? The path to the no mind requires concentration. It requires us to train our brain, which has been running amok like a wild horse. So first, we have to rein that horse in. First we're going to train our minds to be able to concentrate Once we are able to hold this concentrated state for long enough time, we will start to experience glimpses on the journey of meditation. It allows us to hold our attention towards a single thought or group of thoughts.
While allowing us to remove or close any of the other thoughts, it takes practice. With practice, you will find that you're able to truly focus on a single thought. And then we left that thought and so when you lose when you let go of that, that last remaining clot in which you have learned to concentrate, when you let that go, you are in a state of no mind. You would experience the time behaves differently the state of mind. And true no mind you have no idea it's as if you've just blinked because there is no memory. Memory of you actually having been in meditation because there is no recorder.
So let's get started with these techniques.
