Alrighty, I hope you have participated and posted on the q&a board. I'll be checking. I'll be checking. Okay. Anyway, let's touch base on the new software itself. Now compositing software in the industry varies.
Some studios use their own proprietary software in house, but most use either nuke or after effects. For cost. Here we will be using nuke which is in my opinion used in almost 80% of the big major visual effects studios out there in the world. Now, there are different versions of nuke nuke new gags nuke studio. For the purpose of this course I will be using nuke x predominantly and recommend to stick to new gags in case you need some features that the typical nuke does not have. I don't To be frank since we will be doing very simple stuff in this course most likely we would not be using the full capacity of new guests.
Either way, if you do not have a copy of the software You can download a trial version online or the non commercial version, which allows you to use it forever but just limits the use of certain effects and render sizes. attached to this lesson is the link to Nuka download. You could buy it but it is super expensive. So now you can tell how much money the studios have to have in their wallets. Oh, and there are no additional plugins or downloads you would need in order for your software to work for our learning purposes. Now for this cause we'll also be needing after effects as I'll be doing a side by side comparison of the two.
So here's the link to download your a trial do take note that unlike nuke, after effects does have only a trial and expires in 30 days, so watch out for that. But otherwise, no plugins are needed for After Effects either. A quick note I am using an antiquated version of After Effects CC so my After Effects screen might look a bit different from yours. That's okay. Don't panic. Still the same regardless of what any other person tell you, is this a still after effects?
So if you're all set, let's get trigger happy and set the nukes and then watch the after effects of all them nukes. I mean, yep, move along, carry on.
