In the evolution of cellular wireless technology by European Telecommunication Standardization Institute (ETSI) came out with enhanced TDMA based Global System for Mobile (GSM) Technology that was widely adopted by almost 90% of the world except for North America that was already on CDMA technology for cellular wireless communication. This technology was developed for a full-scale roaming and interoperability across the globe. While the world is moving toward 3G, 4G, LTE, IMS, and 5G, GSM is still co-existing in almost everywhere in the world, because the transition to these new technologies requires huge capital expenditure.
What will you learn in this course?
In this course, we will study the architecture of GSM wireless technology with a focus on fundamentals and easy learning through mapping the architectural concept with OSI and internet architecture. The course builds up the understanding from basic of telephony and slowly moving toward most complex IP and SS7 architecture of the network that co-exist today.
Apart from architecture and call flow, the management of the network and business application system has been explained to complete the 360-degree view of GSM networks.
This course will help you to explore the service provider environment and how they manage the business of air-time selling. You will be better equipped with the knowledge to intelligently ask questions and engage in the discussion among telecommunication eco-system partners and service providers.
