Let's do the story, huh? A little bit of information from my imagination about this picture. All right. So we described what we can see. Now I'm going to give you some information about maybe the history behind this picture. Here we go.
The man's name is Richard, and he's a reporter for the local newspaper. Right so a reporter, you could say, newscast or maybe a correspondent. Right? So he works for the local newspaper. And when you say a local newspaper, it could be a small town newspaper, so maybe it's not a big city, but it's a smaller paper or something like that. He received a juicy tip from an anonymous source about a possible drug deal in this location.
Whoo. Okay. So here we go. He received he got someone sent something to him a juicy tip. Whoo. All right, I do see tip.
So first, a tip is just a small piece of information, maybe some evidence or, Hey, I heard some information might want to check it out. And juicy means like extra interesting, something that you really want to know about. So if it's a juicy tip, whoo, it's a great piece of information, and I want to know more about it. So he received a juicy tip from an anonymous source. Okay, so a source is just a person or a place or location where you got the information, right. Your source could be the internet, your source could be the dictionary, your source could be an encyclopedia, your source could be a person, right?
Someone who saw something maybe a witness. However, this source He is anonymous. Huh? What does anonymous me? Well, we haven't went to the dictionary yet in this lesson. So let's go to the dictionary.
And we're going to look up anonymous and see if there are any synonyms as well. All right, let's do the pronunciation. Anonymous. Anonymous. One more time. Anonymous, anonymous.
Okay? So of a person not identified by name, or unknown name. Right? So here we go pseudonyms who, unnamed of unknown name nameless incognito and identified unknown data. So if you have an anonymous source, or like a newspaper, or even for maybe a police investigation, someone has a piece of information and they, they send it in, right maybe they send an email, maybe they read a note or they do something See what visuals show up if we put anonymous source? Okay, so anonymous source, you just don't know who it's from right?
Anonymous means on identified. All right, that's Laila Amita. says, Is he an investigator? I don't know. I think he's a reporter. So part of his job is to investigate, but it doesn't look like he's part of law enforcement.
I don't think he's from the police department. Mm hmm. All right. And Leah, who says anonymous is not known. That's right. Okay, so he received a juicy tip, some information about a possible drug deal.
Alright. So a drug deal is just where the gangs or whoever the people they sell drugs, probably illegal drugs. We're not talking about Tylenol or panadol. We're talking about marijuana, cocaine, PCP. All methamphetamines. All right.
So he received information about a possible drug deal in this location. Richards last story was about a cat being saved from a tree. So he thought this might be more exciting. Mm hmm. When we say Richard Richards last story. So that's the last story that he wrote for the newspaper was about about a cat being saved from a tree.
Not very exciting. So he thought that this a possible drug deal might be more exciting. That's why he came here. All right, let's do pronunciation. Here we go repeat out loud. The man's name is Richard and he's a reporter for the local newspaper.
He received a juicy tip from an anonymous source about it. possible drug deal in this location? Richards last story was about a cat being saved from a tree so he thought this might be more exciting. Okay, so let's move forward with the story. The city has been having trouble with criminals lately. So Richard thought he would investigate and write a news story.
Hmm. So we have investigate, and if you investigate it doesn't necessarily mean that you are investigator but Investigate just means to look for information, right to get information and find do research, stuff like that. So his way of investigating is to come here and witness things, see things and take pictures. And then eventually, if he thinks information is good, he will write a news story that will appear in the newspaper. He came alone to this location about three hours ago. Hmm, it came alone.
We don't know if that's a good idea. Richard was about to leave, but noticed some people and vehicles moving farther down the tracks. Hmm. So he was thinking, Oh, man, I've been here for so long. Nothing's happening. I'm gonna take off and all of a sudden he heard he noticed.
He saw, right he perceived he's used his eyes and he or he heard or he saw something he took in the information. So People and vehicles, but could be cars, trucks, motorcycles, something like that. moving farther down the tracks are ways of ways down the tracks. Okay. All right, repeat after me. The city has been having trouble with criminals lately, so Richard thought he would investigate and write a news story.
He came alone to this location about three hours ago. Richard was about to leave but notice some people in vehicles moving farther down the tracks Okay, moving forward, here we go. Richard saw some men with guns farther down the train tracks and raised his camera. So he probably wants to take pictures. Uh huh. Whoo.
And I see lots of apples in the comments. Great guys are doing pronunciation wonderful. Suddenly, a voice behind him said, Don't move, buddy. Okay, so we don't know what person But suddenly, immediately, suddenly, unexpectedly, he heard a voice saying Don't move, buddy. Richard's heart jumped into his throat, and he grows. Hmm.
So here's the interesting scene. If your heart jumps into your throat, it means suddenly you're freaked out. You're scared like crazy. You're shocked. And if you've prese You mean suddenly, it's like you're paralyzed, you can't move. You're just stuck.
You're frozen with fear. So it's a fairly common saying that his heart jumped into his throat, or her heart jumped into her throat. And it's not literal, right? It doesn't actually happen. But it's the same to express or to communicate. Someone is shocked, like freaked out really scared.
Right? And it just means your heart is probably beating really fast. Bum Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum bum thump thump, right? Is it really nervous and scared? Unfortunately, Richard was never seen or heard from again. I'm Leah who does says gang gangster behind the poor photographer.
Hmm. I think Richard God In over his head, that's a nice idiom to get in over your head means that you get involved in a situation that you're not prepared for. It's too much for you to handle. Okay, so Richard was never seen or heard from again, and heard from just means. Nobody has communicated with him since. It's like, poof, he disappeared.
Hmm. All right. Let's do pronunciation and then we're going to get to the quiz. That's right. Repeat after me. Richard saw some men with guns farther down the train tracks and raised his camera.
Suddenly, a voice behind him said Don't move, buddy. Richard Richards heart jumped into his throat, and he froze. Unfortunately, Richard was never seen or heard from again. And if you hear this that someone was never seen or heard from again, it's another way as they disappeared, right? Whether someone kidnapped them, abducted them, stole them made them go where they didn't want to, or maybe they're just hiding and they disappeared. Okay.
All right. So we just finished the story behind this picture. Right so the reporter taking a picture. Like Leah Huda says the gangster behind the poor photographer, don't move Buddy, huh? All right garden says rip rip rest in peace huh
