Ah, get a and welcome back. I was just thinking about you. I was just thinking that it's time to learn another song. And in this lesson we are going to learn another song an old, traditional French song. Most people know it as a French song. It is cold Ferrera, Jacques de Farish aka now pardon my pronunciation.
I am not French hopefully that's fairly obvious. For Shaka for Shaka. dome, a blue dome a boo, Sunny limit Tina, Sunny limit Tina, ding, ding dong, ding ding dong, or the other English version, which is a variation on the theme, I think is called I hear thunder. So it is very simple. It has several notes. I will show you those notes.
It's actually a nice song and it's actually a round around these way you play the song and then somebody else plays exist. Exactly the same song, but starts a little bit later. So you've got two people playing the same song, but starts a little bit later. So it all kind of intertwines. And it's, it's really quite nice. Now, for every Shaka I will show you for Shaka is a French song and with French songs we need to get into character.
So here is my bear a we will pop on the array and we will go to France. Have you got a bear a? I'm sure you have. If you have please press stop on the video now. Going, bear I can come back. Oh wait.
I'm ready. There we go. waiting waiting. You're back. Excellent. Got you.
Baryon excellent. This is good. Now for Shaka has got lots of DS lots of ease lots of F shops. Jays A's B's and I don't think there's a C but we'll find out. So for jack it sounds heavy. Listen, it sounds like That's it very simple.
Now for Shaka has four main parts. So the first part and each of those parts repeats twice. So the first part for Jacques freret Jacques does it twice. dome a boo dome a boo. Twice. Sunny lemma tiene sunny lemma Tina.
Last one does it twice ding ding dong Ding ding dong all the other the other lyrics I think he's I hear thunder I hear thunder I hear thunder Don't you Hawk, don't you? pitter patter raindrops pitter patter raindrops on which through. So, you, there you go. But we're not here to listen to me sing. We are here to learn how to play the sax. So the first part is for Rosa.
Jacques de does that twice. And that starts on a D, and it goes like this. Watch my fingers. Listen to my sax. So does that twice. So D, E, F sharp, D, does it twice, does it again.
D, E, F sharp, D, we got D with the register key with the thumb on the back. Okay, let's try that. We'll do it slowly. Let's do it really slowly. Na na na na Na na na na. Let's try that off.
Mine seems to be falling off. Ready? Slowly, carefully. 123 how'd you go? Should we do that again? Let's do that again.
D A F sharp, D, another D, E, F sharp D, once more 1234 All right. The second bit, dorm. dorm a very simple. Watch my fingers so we still got the register key on this Taking bit starts with an F sharp, G, A, F sharp, G, A. Let's try it together. We're starting to heat up high.
So keep your mouth nice and tight. Keep your throat open. Big breath. Let's do that bit F sharp, G, A, F sharp, G, A write together. 1234 There we go. I told you the scales would come in handy.
That's part of one of the scales we've done in the past. Anyway, let's add those two pieces together. I hear thunder. I hear thunder in the second bit. Hark. Don't you hopped on here.
All right, ready? We'll do that one starting on a D 1234. How'd you go? Did you get tangled? Did you get lost? I'm pretty sure you didn't.
But if you did, that's okay. There's no such thing as a wrong note in our saxophone lessons. But just in case you didn't quite get the same notes that I played. Let's do that. Again. We'll just do those two components, two parts, again, starting on a D 1234.
All right, this is good. We're halfway through. Now. The next part is a little bit faster than perhaps what we're used to. But again, because you've been practicing your scales, your fingers will be fine on your left hand. So the French beard is son lm, a teen Lima Tina, or the English translation.
I've done the translation the English words, pitter patter raindrops pitter patter raindrops. So we've gone. Starting on it out, I watch my fingers. I'll slow that down. Okay. back down to the eye.
Back down to the G. back down to the F sharp. back down to the D. So slowly starting I'll do that slowly a couple of times and you try and keep up. You try and keep going. And I'm sure I'm sure it'll be fine. Try this. We'll just do it slowly.
I'll play it you join in so joining, I'll play it a couple of times. Okay. Here we go. Nice and slowly. One, two, and then we'll move on. Okay, ready?
Here we go. All right, and the last bit jumps over the break. We were talking about the break a couple of lessons ago, where we add in the register key and take off the register. To Kate. So the we're jumping over the break here. So the last little bit is Ding dang dong, ding ding dong.
And it goes D, A, D with a register key, D with a register key, a without the register key, no register key on the A, and then back up to the D with a register key. So like this. All right, we try that again. D, A, D, D, a D. Once more. Here we go. We'll play together.
Ready? Here we go. 123 Hmm. All right. So let's do that pitter patter Ranger. pitter patter raindrop.
We'll do that. We'll do that second half of the song. So starting on our high with the register key. Ready? Here we go. One, two.
Let's do that one more time. Here we go. All right. And that's pretty much it. Let's do it from the start. Okay, let's do it from the start.
Starting on the middle D with a register key. You will play it all together. We'll play it. I will click Playing you try and join in, replay through twice. Okay, the whole song twice. I'll play please try and join in.
If you get lost, please try and keep up or join back in again. As I keep playing. Ready, we'll play twice. 1234 Here we go again How'd you go? Did you keep up? How was it?
I'm sure it was good. It sounded good from where I was. And the bear I think makes all the difference. So if you've got a real Berry, or you're wearing a virtual bear, virtual bear a excellent, this is good. Let's keep going. Alright, we've done it once through.
Let's do it one more time. And then we'll do it with the backing track. Oh, I forgot to mention, there is a backing track somewhere. I'm not sure where it is on this page. But there is a backing trick that you can download, and you can play along. Alright, once more with feeling and actually We'll play it through twice.
Ready? 123 Hmm. All right, fantastic. Let's try with the backing track. Now while I've been talking my backing tracks on the iPad have gone off. Here we go.
Let's try with the backing track. This is what the backing track sounds like. And there'll be a printout that you can print out with all the notes on it too if that helps. So, like I say, printouts backing track, download them, print out the printout if you want to Don't print out the backing track because it just doesn't work. Here we go. Have a listen.
I'll play along with the backing track and we'll go from there. Ready? Have a listen is a couple of bars intro to two here we go. Now the backing tracks still going. You can hear how the two versions of the song are inter spicing and intertwining with each other. All right, now what we'll do this time, what we'll do quickly this time, or rewind the backing track, and we'll let the melody start and we will join in a little bit after.
Now the song starts. And it's the same song. Two people are playing the same song like this Fred, Jacques, Fred Jacques. And then the first person goes on dome, a blue dome a boo, but the second second person comes in. So the first person goes prayer is Jacques for Java. Then the second person starts for Shaka for Shaka.
Meanwhile, the first person going on and going on, so this time with the backing track, I will start as the second person. All right, so the backing track will go first. And I'll join in. And maybe you guys can join in with me. All right, so I'll just rewind that to there. All right.
So let the backing track do its thing first, it will start with the melody and we will start the second time is the second player. Okay, here we go. Now, we start now And there we have it ladies and gentlemen. So what I would like you to do please is download the backing track First of all, second of all play along. Third of all if you get confused or a bit muddled or if you're not confident by playing, playing with you playing by ear, download the print out print out the printout. Okay, so you have done well we have done French the berry has been announced.
Touch. I'm sure you've enjoyed the berry just as much as I have. And well done fair Shaka, I hear thunder Hawk, don't you? You're awesome. Once again, you guys are always awesome. Have I mentioned you're always awesome.
Yes, I have. You are awesome. Thank you. And I will see you in the next lesson, probably without the berry. But if the barrier helps make where the bear I thank you. I'll see you in the next lesson.
