Hello, good morning. Good afternoon. Good evening and good day. My name is Matthew and today we are going to learn how to play the sax. And in today's lesson, what we're going to do is we're going to concentrate on three notes, we're going to concentrate on the first note is B, the note B. The second note is the note a.
And the third note is the note G. So B, A and G. And it's actually quite easy on the saxophone. A B is just a little bit hard to show there. B is one finger and a is two fingers, and a G is three fingers. So putting that into perspective on our saxophone. We have just bring it up close here. Here we have a B, here we have an A, and here we have a G. So we've got nothing here on our right hand.
All we're doing with the right Hand is we're concentrating on keeping our thumb underneath the little thumb guard at the back, but the right hand is not touching any keys on the left hand. At the back, we're putting our thumb on the thumb wrist, but we're not touching at this stage the register key just on the thumb wrist here. So once again, a B, B, A, and G. So being careful with our tagging, coming back in the camera here, being careful with the timing, we making sure with our neck strap neck straps at the right height. So when you tip pivot, the saxophone, the mouthpiece, the mouthpiece, speak, try saying that problem with the sex part. And by the way, just as an aside, you can't talk while you're going to a saxophone in your mouth. So we'll try that again.
Got your neck strap adjusted, sir When it pivots, so there's no no weight on your hands, you're not actually using any weight on your thumbs. When it pivots. The mouthpiece goes straight into your mouth, being careful not to smash your teeth out carefully, it goes right into your mouth, you don't have to bend down, you don't have to look up. You don't have to tilt it just folds in. So getting back to our B, and our a and our G. It sounds a little bit like this A B and then we've got out a. So we got B with a one finger, I with the two fingers.
Let's try that. We'll go B, then we got a, then we'll go B and then we'll go a so like this 12345 Okay, how's that? Let's leave on the edge. That's pretty easy. So now we'll go B, and then we'll go a and then we'll go G, B, A, G. So we'll do the same again with four beats for each note. Ready?
Follow me on 1234 Okay, now obviously I am swaying there and trying to keep count. So you can keep count. But when you're playing, it's probably best not to move. Just concentrate on B, G, and then this time we'll go back to B, and so on and so forth. We'll do that three times. Ready 1234 All right, how'd you go?
Excellent. Well done. Congratulations. That was really good. I heard you and it was great. Maybe let's try that just a little bit quicker.
B, A, G, A, B, I G. I like that two beats 1234. Fantastic. Now let's just speed it up. Once more, we'll go. We'll do two tongues this time on a side. B, B, A, G, G, A, B, BA, G, G. Let's try that.
1234 Sorry, I cheated. I put it in a little note there at the end, well done. So we've done B, and we've done a, and we've done G. Now included in the saxophone lessons, there'll be a fingering chart. So feel free to download that. If you haven't already. Feel free to print that if you haven't already.
But once again, we've got B with the left hand, I need the left hand. So yep, left hand. Obviously we're facing the other way. So left hand the one with the watch left hand. Be a GIBB, a G, A, B. Once more.
We'll just do some quickly BBA, g g 1234. Great, fantastic. Stay tuned. We will be using those notes for another song very shortly in the next lesson. Excellent. Well done.
We'll see you for the next lesson. Thank you
