And we're back live, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Hello. Good afternoon. Good morning. Good day. My name is Matthew.
Thank you for joining me on yet another fun field action packed, how to play the sex lesson. And today we are going to live on the edge, we're going to go wild, we're going to go crazy. And we're going to play an F major scale and we're going to learn a new note. scales. I've mentioned scales before scales are a little bit tedious, and I apologize, but scales are really good for your fingers. They're really good for the amounts that really good for a muscle memory on getting your brain into saxophone gear.
So we'll just do a couple more quick scales. We are going to do F major that is the letter F, F A Fred, we know what an F is an F is three fingers with our left hand and one with our right now the problem There's no problem here. The new thing with F major is we're going to throw in a new notes. We've done quite a few notes already, we're going to throw in a new note. And today's new note is why first, B flat, B flat, so that's halfway between an A and a B, so it's a little bit lower. That's what the flat two means.
When something is a notice flat if he's lower than its name, so B flat is slightly lower than the B. And, and just as an aside, the equal and opposite a sharp is slightly higher than its name. So for the sake of the argument, F sharp is slightly higher than an F. But I digress B flat, we to play a B flat. We'll get to our F major scale in a minute but to play a B flat, here is our B one finger. Here is our A two fingers A B flat, we're going to introduce one of these little side keys and this bottom one here. So we playing a which sounds like this.
And then with our rights sort of knuckles of halfway between your knuckle and your hands, halfway in between. So roundabout here, you tap the side, the side key. And again, apologies is a little bit hard to see, but with your index finger, your pointer finger, push down this bottom of the three notes. So here's a for adding new notes. This side key here, the flat. Here's A, B, B flat slightly lower.
As you go, be flat. living on the edge, let's just quickly get that coordination working. So we're playing a, then we'll add the side key B flats, they will take them off and stay to the B, then we'll go down to the B flat, they will go down to the A. So have a listen. This is what we'll do even have a listen to me first, a first, B flat, B flat, back to B flat. Back to I reckon you can try that.
Try it with me. Now we'll do two beats for each of those notes. I tried this with me now. So we got A, B flat, B, B, B flat, a. You try it. We'll do two beats.
I'll count in, you join in. We'll do a few of those up and down, up and down. A couple of those ready. Okay, one, two, starting on a 123 ha All right, how'd you go? You did? Well, of course you did.
Well, A, B flat, B, B, B flat, a member the side key. We're not touching, not using our finger the points psyche. Excellent. So we've learned a B flat. We need that B flat in our F major scale. F major scale.
Have a listen, but have a listen first it sounds like this. Okay, so those notes just to make it easy, we start on our F, F, G, A, B flat, C, D, D with all fingers and the register key, E, F, and back down again, F with the register key, a still with the register key, D with the register key going down, no register key now. C, B flat, A, G, F. Let's try that. two beats each note, follow me study on F 1234. And we'll go down again, one Call me bananas. Let's do that one more time.
1234 Cool, well done. Now while we're here, let's just throw in a couple of one more new note actually. So we're down on our low F. Know register key. We know our E we're going down. We know that e We know the D, and we know the C with a Pinkie. Starting on an F, we'll just go down.
Let us throw in a new Pinkie, left pinky on the saxophone, where are left pinkies play. There's a whole heap of case, we've done with our rights pinky for the see down on this one, but on the left Pinky, we haven't really done too much. And what we want to do is we want to talk with our low lowest note on the saxophone is a B flat, we talked about a middle B flat, which has a E and the side key, the low B flat is all fingers, and our right pinky on the C pinky note and a left pinky on this guy here, the lowest one, so I'll try and hold up the saxophone but it's kind of tricky to see. So I apologize, but trust me. Let's start on F. And we'll go down and I'll show you Okay, have a listen. Okay, do you want to try that with me?
Let's try that. So we got an F, A, D, C, Pinkie, B flat, Pinkie. Take the pinkie off back to the C Pinkie D, E, F. Let's try that together. Ready? 1234 Call clears mustard. Let's try that again.
Once more time F, B flat back up again last night on the D flat. Ready? 1234 how'd you go? That B flat is tricky if it kind of wobbles and squeaks and blips and bloops and doesn't quite sound like a ride note, try with talking about bowling balls, get the virtual bowling ball, put it in your mouth, put Khalid in your throat, don't swallow the virtual bowling ball. Open your throat, maybe lower your jaw, just a smidge a tiny bit, but you still want to have a fairly tight mouth. Okay, let us try that one more time.
F down to the B flat ready So again, just a reminder, I'm holding the sax up on I'm moving to show you what thing is on doing. I want you to stay fairly still nice and still nice enough straight, big breaths, shoulders nice and nice and relaxed. saxophone, the saxophone bottom of the sex sort of on your on your hip. We had to say off camera. Let's try that. But what we'll do this time is we will start on our F. Let's go up.
If I, if sorry, start again, we'll go up. If G, A, B flat, C, D, E, F, and they'll come down again, and we'll go all the way down. D, C, B flat, A, G, F, and let's keep going. F, E, D, C, B flat, C, D, E, F. Let's try that. Okay, all the way up all the way down, down a bit further, and then back to the F again. Ready?
1234. Let's keep going down and then excellent. Well done. That is our F major scale once more because we can cuz it's so awesome. We love f majors ready? Let's do to be faster 1234 fantastic F major, I need you to practice those three scales that we've done so far we've done C major, we've done D major.
And now we've done F major. So please, can you practice those three scales, not a lot, a couple of minutes each day. Up and down, up and down. Go for it. It's good for you. You'll grow up to be big and strong, and an awesome sax player if you do that a couple of times every day.
Excellent. Thank you for this amazing lesson. Once again, my name is Matthew. And let's keep going with how to play the sax in another lesson. Thanks
