Good. I welcome back. Another quick lesson pulling our saxophones apart. A couple of lessons ago, we were talking about putting it all together. It may come as no surprise that to pull your saxophone apart and put it away, you do exactly the opposite, but in reverse, you put it together. You pull it apart, exactly in reverse.
So firstly, what you will do is you will, here's our saxophone. It's still attached. Everything's still together. We're finished playing. We're ready. Thank you very much.
Great, finished thunderous applause, we bow to the audience. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Thank you, Raj. Good night. Crowds Gone Wild crowds going home.
Let's pull it apart. So what may I suggest, first of all, we undo this screw at the top. Here's the screw we loosen the screw. Very gently, very carefully, we pull off the neck. Okay, let's put the neck down just gently carefully, being very careful of your read. Okay, careful the read, you put it down.
Next we unclip our clip. We've talked about clips before, unclip the clip. Excellent. And because we've been playing for a little bit, turn your saxophone upside down, hold on very tight. Do not drop your saxophone, hold on very tight. Give it a little bit of a shake.
And that gets sort of the excess dribble off the out of it. Okay, so give it a bit of a shake. Hold on very tightly, very carefully. Don't tell your mom if she's watching because mom's hated when you dribble on the carpet. Okay, don't tell mom. There's only a couple of drills, so give it a shake.
Next. In your case, you probably had a little black plastic rubbery thing, get your little rubbery thing and put it back in. On the top and tighten the screw again. Okay? again very carefully with your saxophone, pop that in the case. All right, that is now in the case sweet back to where we have got our neck and our mouthpiece.
Very carefully undo the screws and push. It's a bit hard to see, but undo the screw so the ligature is loose, push the read up and take the read up and out. Okay, up now, so your read is now a little bit soggy. So again at the risk of offending people's mums, people's mums don't like this. Wipe your read on maybe your trouser leg, maybe on your sleeve, maybe on a hankie but probably your trouser leg is the easier option or maybe on a sleeve so why put the read just Carefully, very carefully pulling, put it on, pull it back what the dribble off, okay, personally, I like trouser legs, but here in this example, my video cameras up here and it's a bit too low for me to show you so very carefully wipe the reed pulling Don't break the raid, get all the excess dribble off.
Then you get your little red case and read cases come in different shapes and different sizes. I won't show you but being very careful. Put your read in the little case that you've probably got. Maybe it's cardboard, maybe it's plastic, maybe you shove it in this way maybe you shove it in sideways I don't know yours is probably different. being very careful of your read. Put that away.
Next. Last really the last step carefully with your mouthpiece and being very careful with the neck and particularly this little bit the register key here being very Careful not to put pressure on here like when we put it together, twisting, twisting backwards and forwards and pull your mouthpiece off. Okay? With the neck, give it a bit of a shake, because again, it's probably gonna dribble. Give it a little bit of a shake, hold on tightly. Don't throw it away.
You know, you hear stories of the way the TV Game of the Week people throwing things around at the TV. Do not throw the neck, but give it a bit of a shake, get the dribble out, pop it back in your case. Last but not least, if you can, with a hankie your mouthpiece, maybe get a hankie, give it a little bit of a wipe, maybe you've got some tissues, but tissues on the best. Maybe you've got a little sexified and clean thing, a little cloth, wipe all the dribble off. Okay, just keep hygiene. You don't want dribbles sitting there in the case.
Because the gives me And then stick the mouthpiece kept back on, pop it in your case. And don't forget your neck strap because I always do. Take your neck strap off, put it in your case, shut your case, Bob's your uncle. Everybody's happy. Thank you very much good night or something like that anyway, slowly, carefully is my hint in my tip. Like when we were putting the saxophone together.
Please be very careful. There's bits and pieces and mechanisms that can break easily. Be careful, slowly, deliberate. Fantastic. I will see you in the next lesson. Thank you
