Hello, this is Rob cover now there are three contradictions that have become apparent while creating these videos about starting a successful business. And there are three kinds of paradoxes that I want to iron out in this video. And the first one, I say is to focus on one thing at the start, and definitely avoid the shiny object syndrome. The shiny object syndrome is wanting to buy the latest product or program from an expensive internet marketer which claims riches with an easy to follow technique on Facebook ads or a funnel with upsells and down sells the latest plugin or something like that. That's offering quick money. Now of course, I'm saying you should avoid shiny objects.
However, it's also So important to always be flexible and ready to pivot on a business idea. So if a client asks you to do something that is not what you're offering, and you would like to do it, then of course, you should tell the client that you'll do it. Even if you think you're able to outsource it, and not do it yourself. I would also recommend you to diversify income streams. So prepare for passive income and look into other platforms while you're focusing on the active income or the one thing that you're doing in your business because later on, it always pays to have multiple income streams into your business in case something goes wrong with one of them. So focus on one thing, but be flexible.
So the next contradiction is when I say always meet entrepreneurs and always read business books, listen to Business podcasts and consume business ideas, read about what other entrepreneurs are saying and thinking, well, this is very important, of course, definitely meet other people go to meetups, go to conferences, definitely read business books, and be up to date with business literature. However, it's important not to over indulge in these entrepreneurial products, especially not the shiny objects. But even the normal business books that are quite good. There are people I meet, who read one business book after another and never have any time for taking action. Similarly, don't go to one business conference after another you need time to work on your business and those conferences can be very time consuming. And the last apparent contradiction is about money.
I'm saying it's not about the money. You should follow your heart in a sense with entrepreneurship. You should enjoy entrepreneurs to ship, you should have a passion about what you're doing, and do it right and be passionate about helping people, rather than being passionate about making money. And that's definitely true. However, most of my business decisions are based upon money. At the end of the day, the profit is the most important thing with your business decision.
The most important thing in life is your happiness. But the most important thing for your business is the profit. So you can see there's an apparent contradiction there. Or there might look as though there's a contradiction from the outset. But there isn't really, it's not about the money. It's about feeling good with the products and services you're offering helping people and enjoying yourself, but the business has to make a profit.
Okay, I hope that helped iron out some apparent paradoxes and what I've been saying. My name is Rob Kirby. I'll see you in the next video.
