So this section of the training goes into the details of the job application. First, before we go into that, let's understand the purpose of the job application. The purpose of the job application is to determine who was applicable and who was qualified. So in that sense, going back to our identifying that this is a competition, the job application is an elimination process. So if you understand this the elimination process, then you understand that you have to have your best application, your best opportunity, your best representation to get through that elimination process. Now, what would get you eliminated from the job application?

Well, years ago, they used to have paper applications. There are some companies who are requiring you most companies today are requiring you to fill out the application online. Most applications won't even most organizations sometimes won't even accept paper applications. There are a few still doing so. But with that in mind penmanship is not an option now. However, there are some things that you need to understand in today's competitive job market with the application process.

There are so many applications nowadays, there's so many applicants nowadays, that companies have gotten smart and they're using automation to help them see through the application process. For example, they're using computer programs to filter and to screen applications before they get to the hiring manager. So, understanding that process, we've investigated and found out that most companies use this program that filter or screen applications or applicants for two things. Number one, they screen them for blank spaces. The program is designed to find all the blank spaces now if you have too many blank spaces, then you must be an applicant or unqualified. So with that in mind, applicants nowadays need to be mindful that you need to fill out as many of the sections as possible to make your application appear to be much more qualified.

If you haven't too many blank spaces, then you may be screened out. And your application may be set aside, because it may appear that you're not qualified for the position. Another thing that that program those programs are designed to do is pick out or find or search for keywords that are related to the position you're applying for. For example, if you're applying for a frontline position, a line cook, or a customer service position or what have you, you must have terms that are related to that position, or the application processing program probably will screen you out. So something to be mindful of you want to use keywords keywords are absolutely critical terminology, learn the language of your trade, learn the language of the field and use some of those terminologies and some of those terms and words and key terms on your application and in your employment package which we'll put together a little bit later.

So with Those two things in mind, you have a better chance of getting your application screened in and not screened out. Let's go through the tedious application application is very tedious. It's a tedious process however, it is a necessary process. For example, looking at position applying for a please do the research, make sure that you understand and have the specific position that you are applying for. Under a position apply for don't just put any or leave it blank. You want to be specific, you want to be direct, you want to detail sometimes, most companies aren't asking for social security numbers.

And they're doing that before screening processes or background checks or to make sure you're eligible to work in the United States. But sometimes they'll accept if you put the last four or you call them but be very careful giving the organization if you're not comfortable with them. your social security number. Full Time full full legal name, last name, first name most application will ask for this. Be careful with it. Sometimes they ask for a last name for Name middle initial.

I've done this many times, where I've put in my last name, when my first name is to be in my first name and my last name, just not paying attention. Those small things could be one of the one of those things that can screen you out. Most companies know your name is Charlie Brown, not Brown, Charlie. So be very careful. Next, you have the home phone, business phone, and this is changing a little bit as well, because now sometimes it'll say daytime phone or evening phone, I recommend that you put your cell phone number for both of these numbers, even if it's the exact same number, it fills in another space, and also makes it clear that this is your phone contact information 24 hours a day. And with that in mind, young people particularly make sure that your communication is in order.

Make sure that your phone numbers and the messages on your answering machine number one is set up. So be very careful. Make sure your phone communication is put together very well. Make sure you Communication is all in order your phone messages machine Make sure to set up. There's so many applicants that don't do that extra step by setting up their voice message. I've even passed on applicants as an employer and potential applicants, if I call their number in here, sorry, the person you reached has a voicemail system that has not been set up yet.

That isn't isn't No, no. If you hear that most employers like myself would go on to the next applicant. If you don't have the detailed and in just the business or of yourself to set up a voice message, then we can leave you a message that says it tells me something right away. So please set up a voice message now. What should they hear they should hear your professional voice, your voice message and voicemail message is your first level of advertisement that shows who you are, and what you are and what type of business person you are, what type of professional you are. Now, again, young people, let's work through the need to be impressive with our social identities.

When we separate The difference, your social identity and your professional identity as we mentioned before, now no one wants to hear your favorite long remix pop song or hip hop song when they hear you that's over with take the music off. Take the gimmicks off Hello, hello hello gotcha all those little cute no playtime is over. This is your business, your business identity. So when people call you they should hear only your business voice. Hi, my name is Deon price. I'm so sorry I missed your call.

But please leave your name and a message and I will return your call at my earliest convenience. Something as simple as that goes a long way. So make sure your message machine is professional. Next, when you talk about email address, same thing you have and professional identity and you have a social identity play time is over once again, create a professional email address strictly for your employment business. Price. Dion number 23 d&i Prize number 23.

Whatever your number is, whatever, whatever you need to put up there. Take care way these sexy Suzy and the ice dragon all yours cool your video game tags no play time is over. This is your business email address people tell a lot about you about your email addresses as well. Everything about you from this day forward is professional. Let's go to your education. Now AWACS high school education, you can put current you can put your projected graduation date, it was high school, if you have post High School, do you have a high school equivalency?

Yes or no high school diploma GED high set, number of years of post high school education. Maybe you did a training class, maybe you did some. A vocational training school, maybe did a couple years of college doesn't matter. Put the number, their name of the schools and education sometimes they require those things. Now when we get down to the job title, when you think of your job communication, you think in threes. name of the company, your title and your information.

As the name of the organization, your title, and the duties that you performed, maybe you are a customer service representative, maybe you're a trainer, maybe you were a, you were a, a guard or or security officer or a part time, Chef, whatever, whatever your position was put it there. The name of your employer, the name of the organization, of course, and employee address, sometimes you don't have the complete address. She's put the city in a state, sometimes that's enough and the phone number. Now, if you don't have any specific work experience, here's where you can put your volunteer work, your former high school, your counseling, your extracurricular curricular activities, maybe you did a part time internship at a company, you can put it there as well, but you want to have some type of work experience or some type of relevant experience.
