So in this video, I'm actually going to walk you through the process of creating a Google My Business profile, it's very possible you already have a profile. So what I do suggest before you do this, just in case is actually take a minute to go ahead and search and see if you can find your business on Google, you will be able to do that with this tool. So first off, what you're going to be able to do is go to google.com slash business. And you're going to click on Get on Google. And this is going to bring you into a map. And let's say I wanted to look for one of my own businesses here.
I have a company called frozen wave media. So here you can see I'm already appearing in the search. So basically, if you you know, already have a business, obviously, this is what you're going to want to do, you're going to want to search in this. But let's just say you know, your business is not on Google. I'm just going to make something called John's plumbing. One.
Let's see Sorry, when I'm recording, it actually does not let me put in the M key. So I'm going to do another example, we'll just say, John's catering. And I'm just going to call it 123. Obviously, that's not going to exist. If we do a search, it's going to say we can't find it. And you're basically going to be able to do I've correctly entered the name and address and this is going to allow you to go ahead and actually create the account.
So I'm not going to go through this entire process because it is very self explanatory, and I don't want to pretend to make a business that really doesn't exist. But here at this point, you're basically going to go in and fill out your business name, you're gonna put in, obviously the US if you're there, your street address, your city, state zip, the main business phone, make sure I highly recommend using something that's area code based not a one 800 number. And then I deliver goods and services to my customers. You really want to make sure that you check that box if you know you offer services to Other people at their locations, versus maybe say having like a retail location. And then for category, you're probably gonna want to pick one main thing. So, you know, in my case, let's, if I was doing catering I might do something like this self catering accommodation or food, you know, maybe like a, let's see, what we have here is a couple different things.
So, I mean, you have to kind of look around, you can always go ahead and change this later. So don't worry too too much about it. So the next thing I want to show you, I'm actually going to go into my existing Google page for my own business, and just kind of show you that. So let's see manage location, I've got a few in here. So this is basically what it's going to look like. Once you've gone through the setup process.
You're going to be able to see some insights of your business and just be able to, you know, kind of look at general things like reviews. If you link up to what's called a Google Analytics account, you can see data like how many people visit your website. I haven't been too active with mine. So it's actually a little bit low. Although I do have five reviews, so that's good. And then basically, once you've gotten all this set up, you're gonna want to make sure you're gonna see inside here, it's gonna show a percentage of how complete the profile is.
And you definitely want to make sure you get yourself to 100%. Otherwise, you're gonna have a harder time getting ranked in the local map pack. This is really going to be you know, I'm going to click Edit here. And I'm just going to give you an example. So up here you can see mine says 100% completed. I've got my full address, all my contact information.
I've picked a couple categories, you know, marketing, consulting, web designer, internet marketing. This is another important thing, you want to make sure you pick the best category that fits your business, you may find there several categories, and you can actually if you go into Edit, you'll be able to add multiple categories. You could add a lot of categories in fact, then you want to make sure your hours are accurate and put in a solid introduction. I would say make this, you know, here I've got something that, you know, this isn't super, super long. But if you can write up something that's like an about us and make it really elaborate, this is a really great place to introduce people to your business. And it is very important.
Other than that, that's pretty much it, I'd say. The biggest other thing you want to do though, is add some photos. They recently made some changes inside of Google business. So you've got different categories. So maybe if I had inside my office, I could add some interior photos. I actually work in my home.
So I don't do that. Exterior photos, maybe the outside of your business, people working photos of people, your team. And then you can even add additional photos if they don't match those categories. I believe these will also change based on your business. So they may look a little bit different for you, and identity photos or just kind of your branding, I suppose. Beyond that, that's pretty much it.
So if you have any questions on this, feel free to leave a question and I'll be happy to help you as much as I can.
