So in this video, I just briefly wanted to cover optimizing images that you add to your blog posts. In this article, I actually don't have an image embedded straight into the article, but generally that might be probably a better direction to go. You can also add in WordPress, what's called a featured image. So if I click into this featured image, here, you can see all the different images with the site. But this particular image has a couple stats here, you've got your URL, where it's located, the title of the image, a caption, which would kind of be shown below the image, the alt text and then we've got the description. The old text is really the most important SEO piece and it's kind of labeling in an SEO way.
What the what this is actually about. It may even be better this probably isn't even the best old text for this hot tub with fountain that really is describing what it is but we might want to say something like you know, let me go back here. This article is for the pool renovation solar Let's do se pool renovation on a hot tub with fountain. So now we're we're still keeping the same description. But now we've got a description of, you know, this is kind of making it relevant to the article, we're trying to rank here that we've been doing some pool renovation on this hot tub. So I'm going to hit set, and that's going to save.
So that's really going to help with, you know, letting Google know that we're this article is relevant to the, to the article itself. And another piece that we can do, I'm not going to walk you through this specifically, but just as a very general thing, and it will help with your rankings is Google has a free picture tool called Picasa. If you go to picasa.google.com, you can download it for free. And I actually don't have it installed on this computer so I wasn't going to walk you through it but when you open the image Inside of Picasa, you can also add a location for that image. So what I highly recommend you do is for every single post that you make on your website, you actually upload it into Picasa. And you label it with the location of where the actual image is relevant to.
So in this case, we're talking about pool renovation in North Miami. So we'd actually want to take that image input into Picasa, and then mark it as an image that was in the North Miami, Florida area. That's going to also help Google understand that this article is relevant in the North Miami area, you know, beyond just the text. It's like you're giving Google another signal to figure out that this article is relevant to North Miami, Florida. So that's something you can do with Picasa, it's free, won't take you too much extra time and it's really going to help you with these very kind of city relevant service pages. So that's about that.
I'd make sure You know, again, make sure with every article, I would recommend at least one photo. And if you want to do more photos, that's also going to be good. Another piece that you can also do I'm going to throw it into this video, is if you have a YouTube video that's relevant to the article, you can embed the video into WordPress. If you're using the WordPress platform, just click on this text box. And this is where you're going to want to put the embed code that you get from YouTube into your article. Otherwise, it's not going to show up I don't think if you put it here.
In fact, they may have improved that I think now WordPress picks up on it, but I generally just put it in text area. This is the pure HTML for the for the blog. And that's going to also help with some relevance if you have something that makes sense. You know, in this case, let's say we had a video of some guys doing some full renovation work. That would be something that you would add into this article.
