Okay, so in this video, I wanted to show you a tool called up city. Now, this is a really awesome tool, if you're doing anything with local SEO, really, this is going to help you kind of put together a task list of any of the things that you need to be doing. That's probably the biggest advantage of the tool. It's actually designed for local businesses, it's really not designed for companies that are looking to, you know, rank outside of just like local city terms, or, you know, get kind of ideas of how they should be doing that. So I wanted to kind of walk you through this tool, I'm actually running a trial right now, I'm going to pretty much walk you through the better part of the features and just give you an idea of what it's all about. You know whether or not you're watching this and you're someone that actually is doing SEO for local businesses, or you are a small business and you're looking to do this for yourself.
Either way, this video is going to help you out. So what you can do is head over to up city, if you want you can get a seven day trial. I'm actually on the last day of my trial and that's why I wanted to make this video. Once you get in they're going to actually have you created what they call a campaign for your business. Let me see if I can do an example here if I go to manage. If I hit Add campaign, with the trial plan, you can add up to 12 campaigns.
So if you are an agency, you could try this out with several different customers. And basically, they're going to have you go through this initial setup, you put in your website, basic address information. And the reason that they do this is because they're going to be able to look and see kind of how you look across the internet on some of the major sites like Yelp, and Yellow Pages, a lot of these different business sites where you can list your business. They also have you list some of your competitors. Once you go through that, I'm not going to fill this out, but the next step is basically adding in a couple keywords, and then they're going to add add you into the system, you will have to add some keywords as well, they will give you some suggestions. Otherwise, this won't all set up properly.
Once you've done that, I'll just run into a campaign here for a company that I just tried this with just to show you what it is Everything looks like if I head back to manage, I'm just going to do one of these Plumbing Companies here. Basically, you're going to get a full dashboard of all these different things. It's going to give you some idea of the backlinks on the site, which are people linking to you some of your rankings on Google for some of the keywords you put in, and whether or not you know, you're indexed in Google, which means that Google actually shows your website in there. Same with Bing and Yahoo, and just some basic metrics about your site, like how old your domain is 11 years in this example. They give some daily tips and alerts. They have an option here, you can ask their experts.
I don't know if that cost money. I didn't try that. But the biggest thing about this tool is you get a bunch of these different task lists that you can do you get optimize your presence, manage your reputation, become an authority, convert, retain and grow. And as you can see, total up I want to say there's something like, I think there's at least like 300 plus tasks, it's quite a bit. So now that we've done the Initial Setup under manage, obviously, that's where I can manage all the accounts, I can go into tasks. And this is really the coolest part of this tool.
If you're watching this in one of my courses in your small business, you will find that I've kind of given you some tasks that you can do. And if you decide to sign up for up city, you're actually going to find that this is going to be a great resource. And it's going to be far beyond kind of the list that I put together for you. But I just kind of wanted to quickly show you some of the ideas of what you're going to get. So if we go through like the optimize your presence module here, they kind of start you out with like, you know, set up for success, you know, confirm that you're set up with Google's search console, confirm that you've set up Google Analytics confirm Bing webmaster stuff. And the best part of this is they have this little how to so you can click on how to and it's actually going to tell you exactly what you need to do to go do this.
Some of this may be a little bit technical. If you're a small business and you're trying to go at this on your own, you may find you're needing some help so either you could always asked me a question, if some of the instructions here are not clear. But I imagine, you know, if you're an SEO guy, you probably can figure out most of this stuff, if you're technical shouldn't be very difficult for you. And really, they just have you do all these things. And they give you this point system. They also measure how long it's going to take.
So they estimate this will take five minutes, and you earn points. And the points really, it doesn't reflect on anything. It's just kind of a metric they use. And you can look at this in your reports. You could also send this to a client, if you are an agency, you could send this to a client and show them you know, how many points they've done, and how much work the time and everything all combined. So once you've done that, you you basically can go through, check these things off, you can add notes, you can even assign this, you know, if you had team members, you could assign this to your team members, you could mark when it's due.
So it's a really cool system for like actually getting things done. But I was really impressed with their list of things. You know, some of the things are pretty generic, you know, like you're saying that confirm Your meta tags settings allow, you know, allow your website to be crawled, they're not really giving too much of an audit on some of this stuff. It's very just generic, hey, do this, hey, do this. And that's kind of one of the disadvantages of the tool is they're not really like a full suite where some of the other SEO tools will give you a little bit more auditing capabilities. But pretty much I mean, that's that you've got all these different things.
They will also show you if you look at the top local directories, you can see, like this particular company, it's finding, hey, we didn't find a listing on Yahoo. But if it does exist, you can paste it in here. And then they tell you how to go ahead and create that Yahoo listing. And you know, you'll earn 50 points if you do the Yahoo 175 points if you do an Apple Maps one. So you've got a lot of stuff that you can do here. And you know, there's just really tons of possibilities.
Let me show you the social tab. I'm going to cancel this, it looks like it wants me to upgrade, I must have made a change. But that's alright. So basically, you can connect all your social profiles, your Twitter, your Facebook, LinkedIn, app net Tumblr, and you can put in a message here, which will then get posted to all these profiles. Really, really cool feature. You can also add it to a queue.
The only thing I don't like about this is if you wanted to maybe have like blog posts, just go live on your, you know, let's say you're an agency and you want it to go live on a client site. This may not really work all that well for you, because you'll have to go in here manually and posts for every single client. It's not automated in any way. But you can queue things up. So if you had someone or yourself, you know, go in here make queue up 10 messages for one campaign, you could be set for a month. So that's really up to you.
That's pretty much that. If I go to reports, I basically got different reports for different things. You've got a report card, which basically puts in one keyword, one website and a few competitors. Then tracks the metrics. So in this case, for this particular keyword, it's Orangeburg pipe, pretty generic keyword, you know, their number 10 on Google, and then the competitors are nowhere to be found. So basically, you can go through and read all these different little statistics about the site, not going to go through it too in depth.
And then you've got a couple other things like you've got a local report card, and this shows kind of where you stand with a lot of these local business listings. Bright local, does a little bit better job of this because they have a lot more listings. And here, they've only got I want to say it's about 30 to 50. And you've also got some keyword ranking stuff you can look at. So here, you know, here's the main keyword I have there, and you can kind of see where they stand for up to about 30 keywords. So you could put in lots of keywords that you're trying to target and get reports on that.
Here's a very basic link analysis. You know, you can see some of the top links that the site's receiving for backlinks. This is not a very in depth tool for backlinks And we also have reputation which this is an add on. I did get to demo this with the company. And basically what they're going to do is they give you the ability to kind of monitor your reviews across all the different sites like Yelp, and Facebook, and Google business and all these different sites, you can monitor the reviews and respond to them very easily from this one dashboard. But it is an add on, that's another $15 a month.
Then we've got activity. Here you can see those metrics like I marked off the Google My Business Page was complete, and they add 100 points in their system. They estimated it took 30 minutes. So as you complete these tasks in their system, they add up on the scale here. And you can see how many impact points have totaled up. And you could even send this to a client or just use it to track your own effort if you're doing this on your own.
Then under analytics, we've got basically this links into Google Analytics, which shows all of your traffic metrics. So you could use this for reporting Or maybe you just don't want to have to go into Google Analytics, this is a good way to do that. Another cool feature is you've got some automated reports. So you could choose which of these reports to send, it's basically going to bundle them together, I believe in a PDF. And you can send this out. If you're an agency, you can add some branding, if you want to put a logo.
Instead of having upset a show on this, it could be completely branded to you. And I think that's the biggest thing. The other thing I wanted to show you inside a tasks, what we can actually do, let me see if I can find it, it might be due to. Here it is manage. I logged out let me log back in. Under tasks, this is another really cool thing and I thought I'd point this out.
So if you don't like the tasks that are there, you can actually go in and customize them. You can edit every single one of them. You could change pretty much everything about them. So if I hit Edit Let's say for this one, I can change what section it belongs in, I believe. Or actually, I think, for the most part of this, you can't change everything. But you can override some pieces of it.
So I can't change the section that this is in. But I could actually remove the task. And I could choose whether or not I want to override some of the titles like if I want to change this title, I can do that. I could change how the how to do it. So maybe you want to make that more more in depth, then I could change how long it takes, you know, maybe someone that doesn't know how to do this, I could override this and make it like 30 minutes, if they've never done it before, and then assign it to them. And then it looks like you've got a sore position.
So you can sort the order of the tasks. And they kind of have a point system for that. So this is another really cool thing I thought I'd add. And you can even set up your own tasks. I think if I go into the Manage here, yeah, so I can add a new top level section. So this is really cool if you're an agency because maybe you have like an onboarding schedule where you have to do a bunch of things like maybe you need to get their twitter login, if you're an agency and you're working with another client, you might have to get their their login.
And basically, you know, add that as a task. That could be something that you do initially when you're just starting out with a client. So that's something you can add in here. So that's pretty much that there are some other settings like you pretty self explanatory, setting up a team doing some branding, billing settings, and then just your basic profile, which is, you know, you can add your own logo for your own company. And like I said, if you are a small business, and you're watching this, I'm gonna log out and I'm actually gonna go to the homepage. I just want to show you the pricing that they have.
So if you're running this as a small business, basically, you could be doing this for about $50 a month and you're gonna have a full list of all the things you know, here you're getting a step by step guide. All the other things you're getting the keyword rank tracking, can only do up to Five keywords with the basic 50 a month but really, if you're a small business and you're willing to do it yourself, I highly recommend this you know, it's a pretty good price considering the tools you're going to get and being able to track your progress. Thanks for watching.
