Welcome back. By now I hope you've already done the exercise on exploring the topics that you care about. And if you haven't, please stop this video right now. And make sure you completed your exercise first, because that's the whole point why you got this course. But if you already completed the exercise, so let's move forward. And now we're going to talk and we're going to explore more about the inter awareness clues.
We have passions, and we have talents. But for this video, we're gonna talk first about exploring your passions, just the same like when we're talking about life purpose, in order to discover your life purpose, you need to first understand what is life purpose and what is not life purpose. The same thing with passions because this word passion has been used so often in the last several years, at least that there has been so many interpretations on the meaning of the word itself. So before we go further on exploring your passions in order to discover your life purpose, let's gain clarity first on what passion is. The first thing I would like to share with you is that you have more than one passion. That's why I've been using the word passion, plural instead of singular.
But here's the catch, though. Yes, we have many passions. However, not all of them are related with our life purpose. That's why I don't really agree when someone said, find your passion and follow your passion. You all Yes, but don't just follow your passions blindly. Because not all of them are related with your life purpose, follow the ones that are connected with your purpose.
So let's just again clarify what passion is. So let's get deeper into this passion. First of all, it has a lot of similarities with hobbies. For example, My hobbies are playing basketball or singing or playing guitar. And there are similarities between hobbies and passion. And the first one is, especially when we talk about discovering your life purpose.
They're both a form of activity. your hobbies and your passions are activities. So I've had a friend of mine who told me that alley, so your passion is movies. And I was like, well, watching movies is one of my passion, watching as in the activity of watching movies. But if you talk about movies, that's again, that's not passion. That's a topic like what we've discussed earlier.
And there are many activities within the topic of movies, you can watch movies, and you can make a script, you can direct the movies, you can edit the movie, there are so many activities within the topic of movies, you can tell movies, and my passion is just watching it and nothing more. So make sure when we talk about passion, we don't talk about topics but We talked about the activity itself. And again, between passions and hobbies, they're both form of activities, playing basketball, or singing a song or playing a guitar or whatever it is, but it is a form of activity. So that's the first similarity. The second one is when you do your hobbies, or when you do your passions, you love doing it. Obviously, I love playing basketball.
I love watching movies. I love singing. I love playing guitar. So you enjoy the process. And also when you do your passions, or when you do your hobbies, time flies by pretty fast. Why because when you do your passions or your hobbies, you are in what is called the state of flow.
You're fully present at the moment so you've lost track of time. That's why when you do your passions when you do your hobbies, time flies by pretty fast. And the next similarities within passions and hobbies are nobody and I mean nobody will ever discover your passions And except you. The reason I know it sounds obvious but the reason I'm saying this because I've had people ask me many times so Ollie, what do you think are my passions are my hobbies like? How the hell do I know you are the one who need to do them in order for you to discover them, whether they're your passions, your hobbies, or they're not. So that is why in this program in this process, we're going to facilitate it to explore.
So let's be clear, you are the only one who can discover them. What I'm doing in this program is facilitating you how to discover them faster. And at the end of the day, the same like passions or talents or topics that you care about. You need to do them. You need to explore the maintenance, you need to take action in order for you to discover them. You cannot just think and feel like oh, maybe I think that's playing basketball.
Probably my hobbies or even my passions. Have you know, never tried, but I think I'm good enough. That's not how we're going to do this process. And I think you know why. So, those are the similarities. But also, here's the important part.
There are differences as well between your hobbies and your passions. And just like when we explore the topics that you're interested in, and the topics that you care about, there are some simple but there are significant differences between your hobbies, and your passions. The first one, you do your hobbies when it is convenient, when the time and condition is convenient for you to do it. For example, many times I've had events, workshops or trainings, where the schedule is conflicted with the time I wanted to play basketball with some of my friends. In that case, I will just not play basketball. Why?
Because I have bigger responsibilities. So I only play basketball when it is convenient because it's just my hobbies. I love doing it. Yes, I like doing Time flies by I have a good time, but I only do it when it's convenient. The same thing with playing guitar, the same thing with singing They are just my hobbies. I love doing them.
Don't get me wrong. However, you will be willing to pay a certain price in order for you to do your passion. Because passion comes from a Latin word Party, which means to suffer or to endure. So there are some sacrifices includes when you're doing your passions, like when parents are taking care of their child. There are some sacrifices. And here's the other difference.
The sacrifice that you make, in order for you to do your passion is based by sincerity or love, not by hate. Like when parents are taking care of their child, they make a lot of sacrifices, but they don't do it based on hate. They do it based on love based on sincerity, that's passion. Or for me, one of my passions are watching movies, the activity of watching movies, I love watching movies, and even when it's not convenient, even when it's late at night, early in the morning, even when it's done. I have other work to do. And then I will find a way to stay up later just to finish my work, but also so I can watch movies.
I watched movies from the 20s, the 30s. Then I follow every director, every script writer actors and everything. But the activity of watching movies, if there's something that takes me to another zone, another level, I love doing it, and I don't mind sacrificing things for it. When I was in high school, I never used some pocket money that I get from my parents, so I can save them so I can buy a movie. So I can watch movies. And even though I didn't eat because of that, but for me, it's totally worth it.
So there are some sacrifices that you're willing to do price that you're willing to pay, but you don't mind doing it as well because for you personally, subjectively, it's worth it. Another factor of mine which might sound weird to you, is spotting clouds, the clouds on the sky. I love putting clouds different species of Klaus, I became a member of what's called the cloud Appreciation Society, which is based in the UK and spotting and identifying different species of clouds makes me really, really happy to the point where I'm actually willing to sacrifice to pay some price and actually, I paid money to be a part of this society. I bought some books about clouds I so I make sacrifices and sometimes even when I'm watching movies when I'm doing my other passions, sometimes with this a car chase scene where everyone is watching how cool the car is, or how exciting the chasing scene is.
I'm watching this are some really nice clouds and with cumulus or alto cumulus or cirrus clouds. It's just like, It's weird. I know. It's like this nerdy thing that I have, but it becomes something that I do. Regardless whether the condition is convenient or not. right or not, I will make my way to do it anyway.
The same thing like my passions of facilitating people or giving trains or writing, it takes me to another level. Well, you can see how excited I am, how pumped up I am, when I'm doing this video, same level of energy for hours and hours and hours and hours. Which brings me to the next difference between hobbies and passions that are very significant is that when you do your hobbies, like when I'm playing basketball or when I'm singing or when I'm playing guitar, it never occurred to me that, oh, I have to be better than Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant or LeBron James or Stephen Curry. Or I have to be a better guitar player than Carlos Santana, or Kirk Hammett. As I'm a fan of Metallica. I just love doing the activities.
I just love doing them. But when it comes to facilitating people, I don't compete with other people. I compete with myself and there's always this hunger when it's your passion to learn more and more and more. I can't even count how many books I've read how many articles I've read and write how many videos, I've watched documentaries, how many mentors that have asked here and there, how many audio programs that I've been listening to. So I can continue to learn and grow and expand myself so I can do my passion better and better and better. While it's just a hobby.
No, I'm not willing to do all of that I'm not willing to go through all of that. So there are some similarities, but there are some simple but very significant difference. And we're going to explore them today. And the key is to identify your passion. Yes, you need to look back on the things that you have been doing. But remember that discovering your passions just like when you're gonna discover your talents and topics that you care about.
It's about taking action to discover it not just thinking that you have it. And that is why and once you've discovered your passions, which you might discover even more later in your life as you continue to do more things. It's important to reflect whether these fashions related to my purpose or not, just like watching movies, or spotting clouds are not the fashion that directly related to my purpose. And there are other passions that I have like facilitating people or writing that are directly related to my purpose. So no worries. But at this point, we're going to try to explore what are the passions and there will be time in this program where we're going to try to connect a fetus from all the things that we've been exploring and see the connection between all those three clues.
So in order for us to gain more clarity on your life purpose, so thank you for watching the video. And remember, your life is your responsibility. It's always time to take action, and I'll see you in the next video.
