Hello guys, welcome back. It's now time to learn about the patterns of phases that people go through in the process of discovering and living their life purpose, and this is very, very important to know to understand the phases the patterns that the people are going through Why? Because first, it will build your awareness on where you are now in your journey of discovering and living your life, in which phase are you? And second, if you keep pursuing which phase will I will get into next. So this is very crucial for you in order to know what's coming next. And what do you need to do now to get yourself into the next space?
Basically, in the big picture would divide this pattern into two big category one is the category Discovering life purpose, and then living the life purpose. And the first face that those who have discovered and live their life purpose is always the face that we call internal discomfort meaning that your basic and necessity needs are met to close a place to live. Yet somehow there's still something inside that causes discomfort in you that some questions that keeps burning about maybe about your purpose about your talents about your passions or about your career about your future, or even discomfort about the situation in your surroundings. So when your basic needs are met, yet somehow they're still some, some hole in you some some something that makes you feel unfulfilled and you have this question. That keeps coming inside, you know, it's important if you don't really feel like you have a certain answer for this.
And that caused us distance or discomfort. And everybody, I'm sure, if you are not right now, in this place, you may be in a different phase right now, but I'm sure at one point of your life you are in, you're in this phase as well, because those who have discovered their life purpose also went through the space as well. So in a way, if you still have questions that that's related with your life purpose, and you still don't know the answer yet, that's actually a good news. Why? Because you're in the right track. Now.
It's just a matter of how you respond to that discomfort. You see, in general, there are three kinds of responses. The first one is what I call playing victim. This is when you respond, this this internal discomfort by you know, responding with answers, like Well, but life you know, life is difficult just face it, you know, this what I call playing victim? So it does you have this question. So this burning questions inside that keeps coming back, but you don't really answer the questions.
The second kind of response is what I call this is basically a short term solution. Because knowing that there's an important question inside you that you're still not sure about the answer is not comfortable, right? That's why it's called discomfort. But instead of really searching for the answer, there are people who responded by Oh, just hang out with my friends, or do just some other activities, which are fine. There's nothing wrong with hanging out with your friends or going to the movies or whatever. However, those kind of responses, they don't really answer the questions.
So in just a matter of, I don't know, weeks, or maybe months or days even those questions will keep coming back at you. So it's just a short term solution. Doesn't really answer the question. It's just something that we subconsciously probably do in order to distract ourselves from that uncomfortable feeling. And there are also third kind of response. Those who actually respond by really trying to explore and find the ultimate answer.
And those who have discovered and live their life purpose are the ones who responded this internal discomfort base. by responding with a third kind of response, we did try to explore and discover and find the answer. That is why when you respond with a third kind of respond by really exploring the answer, you will move to the second phase, which is exploration or explore. And if you're still trying to discover your life purpose by for example, by taking this program, it means you are now on the second face because it means you already took some action to try to decide Cover and find the answer. So again, congratulations for thinking you're already in the next phase now, yet somehow, there's still many people who already took some actions. And they are now in the Explore phase, they still find themselves in difficulties in trying to really discover their life purpose, why?
One of the main reason is what you've seen, you've learned as well in the previous videos, because there are so many misunderstandings about what life is about. Remember those four misunderstandings that life is not something that you achieve? It's something that you live day to day. And then life purpose is not just related with your family circle only. Or it's not just something to generate that I want to be someone useful. Yeah, but how can you maximize your value as a as an individual, and life represents not just a single profession, these misunderstandings made a lot of people who are in the Explore phase.
Finally, Difficult to move to the next face. But you're now here, you're not in this program you are now exploring, and we're guiding you to make the exploration phase more efficient. And throughout this journey of exploration, you will gain more and more clarity about your life purpose, and it will ultimately take you to the next phase in the discovery part of the model of the journey. We're just calling that is when you actually gain that clarity of what is your life purpose. Now, for some people, they might stay quite a while in the Explore phase, before they finally move into calling. And the reason for that is the Explore phase when you explore what is your life purpose, like the phase that you're in right now, for example, by taking this program by joining this program, it's like peeling the layers of an onion.
So it might take some time. It depends on how many layers that you currently have. So the game here, my friend, is a matter of gaining more and more clarity along the way. So that's why for some people, the Explore phase, the exploration phase might take quite a while. And for some other people, it might take Sure, it doesn't matter if your job is not to compare, but to learn from their process. And this model is based from the research, the interviews and the biographies that we did among people across countries, across cultures, across generations, across sectors, even on their process, their journey in discovering and living their life purpose, what are the similarities?
Now, from them, you learn but you don't need to compare why this person takes two years and this person takes 10 years to finally discover their leftovers. There's no use to compare about how long but learn what makes them discover their purpose faster. So, and that's what happened to me as well, the more I use my time in the topics that I care about, and along the lines of activities that are related with my passions and my talents, the more I gained clarity about my life purpose, and I define it and after a while I review it. And then as I gain more clarity, I redefined it. But here's the interesting thing. Once you explore, then you define your life purpose.
And then you continue to live that purpose. And then when you review it, it might feel like it changes. But I guarantee you, the changes, it's more like an evolution is not really changing. In a way, it's just you gain more clarity, and it will be still along the same line along the same theme of purpose that the key is to maintain your career or the way you live your life. Still within the topics that you care about, and ensuring to review it from time to time, like myself. Back then I defined my purpose as to improve the education system in Indonesia and Along the way, as I gain more clarity, I realized myself year after year, hey, actually what I meant by education, my version of it is about life purpose is about discovering and living life purpose.
And that's for me is also education. But if I didn't take my time, if I didn't use my time alone, that topics that I care about, if I didn't use my time to explore more within the topics that I care about than just education, I won't be able to gain that kind of clarity that hey, actually, what I meant about education is about life purpose. So the key is to maintain yourself within the topics that you care about, and to keep using and doing the activities that are related with your passions and your talents, and use that channel those passions and talents in the topics that you care about. And when you gain and move into that calling phase when you discover your purpose, and when you start living your purpose, we move to the next Category now, it's going to be like a circle. It will be like a loop of phases that you will continue to go through along the way.
And start with trial, obviously, because discovering your purpose is a matter of understanding your why, why you exist. Like I said, when you're in the discovery process, you need to connect more with your feeling with your heart with your intuition, not too much with your logic. But when you are in the living phase, it's a matter of Okay, how am I going to do this? So that's why it's always America and how am I going to start now? What do I need to do first? So there's a lot of trial and error by trial usually comes with errors as well.
So there are a lot of trial and errors. I'll give you an example of a pretty famous actor that you probably know. So vs. Stallone, one of my favorite actors as well. You probably know the movie rocky which is one of the earliest movies that made him a big star, not just that as an actor, but also even as a writer as well. But silver is just alone if you read or learn, his journey is very, very interesting. And it's very inspiring as well.
His purpose is about inspiring people, in order for them to realize their potential, and for them to be able to overcome unbelievable challenges in their life because he felt that that's what he experienced as well, even since he was a baby as well, because when his mother was in labor, and when he got out from his mother, something happened that made the way he thought was a little bit different. But he knew that he wants to inspire people to overcome the challenges in their life. And he wants to do it in the movie business, not not just TV, but movie business. And he started by going through a lot of different agencies film agencies in in New York City and got denial after denial. After that. Here's the trial face.
Yeah. And they said to me that there aren't more than 1000 film agencies in New York City. And he said, ya know, I even went to some of them 5678 or even nine times and still get rejected. So here again, trial face and after trial, the next phase is pitfalls you have, you're facing this many challenges when you're living your life purpose. So living your life purpose does not mean Oh, now I know my life purpose and everything will be smooth. No, actually, it's the exact opposite.
Once you knew your life purpose, and you're living it, more and more challenges will come. But the difference and it's very, very important, my friend, when you're facing this challenge, you know why you're doing it? It's what makes the whole journey even the challenge is all the ups and downs becomes very, very worth it and fulfilling even so for sure You will go through that trial phase. And for sure as well, you will go through the next phase, which is your pitfalls, you will face those challenges, just like someone persist on rejection after rejection. But he finally got a first yes from this agency where he got 20 seconds in a movie, literally just playing a thug and was beaten up in the movie just for 20 seconds. But that alone, that even no matter how small, that's already a validation, because he's moving forward, regardless, all of the trial and errors and all the pitfalls.
And now he's moving forward. He's he got some validation, even though it's something small, and it's now starting to be on track, even though it's very tiny in the beginning. And that's where the loop goes back. to trial again, okay after God is first 22nd he got actually got three of those kind of roles for for just less than a minute kind of roles. But he kept trying he now he wants to get something bigger and fast forward a little bit and still versus a long journey. Even after that three rolls just for less than a minute that he got in a few movies.
He's still never got his breakthrough. Get keep again, going back after on track goes back again in the loop into trial again. And he kept getting rejected and rejected and rejected to get a bigger role. And one day when he saw the fight between Muhammad Ali and wepner he got very inspired with weapons. How after a trip after 15 rounds, the guy's bloody like but he kept coming back, kept coming back kept coming back and fired him to write the script for rocky which was his first big book Not just as an actor but also as a writer as well. And what's interesting was when he tried to sold the script for Rocky, he got rejected again and again as well.
Most people said most agents he said that this is too predictable, too sappy. Finally, there's one agency who believed in his script and offered him $125,000. And by the way, back then he was broke. He didn't have any money. So imagine, after getting so many rejections and finally have someone who believe in your script, who believe in what you do, and again, that's another validation, right? And you're on track.
But what's interesting though, was the agency wanted to buy a script with one condition that he cannot star in it. Because they thought like, I'm not gonna invest this much money in. Again, this is back in the 70s. Like $100,000 is a lot of money and so versus a loan know he knew exactly what he wanted he know that what's his purpose? It's not just about selling stuff. He wants to inspire people.
He wants to be a part of the movie. He fells it I am Rocky, I'm I wrote the script. I'm rocky even though he's broke, he still said no. If you don't believe in my script, we don't if you don't believe me as an actor as well, then thank you very much. And he left. But again, after a few weeks about mistaken, the he called it back offered him $250,000 a quarter million dollars for him.
Not just to sell a script, but again, not too far in that script. Not too far in that in that movie, and rocky as well. So it might be that somebody's paying you. So you won't start in your own movie. But he knew exactly what he wanted. He knows exactly his purpose of doing all of this.
And he said no. And finally, they offered him $325,000 back in the 70s to someone who didn't Have any money, but he has a clear purpose of why he's doing what he's doing. So he rejected that again. And finally they came to a compromise. Okay, if you're gonna start in the movie, then we're not gonna buy the script that much. They finally agreed just for $35,000 for Silverstone to sell a script and, and they finally made the movie with a budget around $1 million.
And it generated in the boss office around $200 million and won the Oscars as well my point of the story. And by the way, Silverstone story is also not unique when it comes through someone's journey in discovering and living the life of the story is not unique in terms of the phases. Maybe the purpose is different, or the challenge that the people are going through will be different, but the phases are the same. Once you discover your life purpose, you will have so many trials and pitfalls, the errors part as well. But it's amazing If you keep changing your approach, which finally get you into validation, and that's what that's what happened to servers on his own, for example, by somebody by his script, or even the movie got an award, that's also a validation then get him to stay on track and his purpose in living his purpose as well.
And what happened to servers Come on today? Do you think he still faced some challenges? You bet he does. I'm sure it does as well. So and the same thing with me or everyone in this world who, no matter how successful they are in living their life purpose, they will continue to face challenges. So we lie and so will you as well.
So, to recap a little bit, the discovery part, start with an internal discomfort. So if you're feeling those kind of internal discomfort, that's the good news. That's actually really cool. It's a matter of you responding to the third time respond, not feeling like a victim, not just distracting yourself because it's not comfortable to have this discomfort, but to Explore to really try to find and discover your purpose. So that's the exploration part that will take you to the calling part to finally feel and understand what's your purpose, discover that life purpose, and it will take you to the next category moving on to trial. And then you will face some pitfalls, I bet I promise you, you will face that pitfalls.
That again, it's worth it once you know why you're doing it, and moving to get some kind of validation. And that's what also will also keep you on track as well. But you will continue to face challenges. It's a loop it will, from trial to pitfalls to validation, then staying on track, and then it goes back again and again. But along that way along that process, even though it's looping back, and again and again, you continue to grow your impact and your legacy as well as an individual. Because remember, your life purpose is the thing that will enable you To generate the biggest impact from yourself to others, to your surroundings, to the society, so it might be looping back.
But along that loop, you grow in your impact you grow in your legacy as well. And that process of living your life purpose is also a fulfilling kind of Germany, which also affects your happiness as well, your fulfillment as an individual. So, right now, look at the journey, look at the phases and I'm on my model, look at the phases. Where are you now? Go through the document. Look, there are some questions that are reflection that will help you to really think back where you are now.
So you'll know where you want to go be like a GPS. If you want to go somewhere, you need to know where you are now, otherwise, it's very difficult to navigate along the way. So go to the documents and do the exercise as well. And make sure you you're in a good environment in a common environment. There's no distraction and really take the time to do this exercise. And lastly, I congratulate you once again for taking this action for taking the steps and the journey will still continues.
I'll see you soon.
