Welcome back. Remember that story that I told you in the previous video about the Croatian guy who got really shocked when I asked him? What do you want to do later in your life? He got really, really uncomfortable. He is experiencing an uncomfortable experience internally because of that question. And remember what I told you as well in the previous video, that there are patterns of phases that people are going through in their process of discovering and living their life purpose, regardless of their sectors, or cultures or countries or religions or even generations.
And the first face that a person will go through in their process of discovery and living their purpose is a place that I call a discomfort pace, an internal discomfort, so it means you're even though your basic needs are met already, yet somehow you still feel something is missing the There's an internal discomfort feeling that you're experiencing. And when you experience that, just like what that Croatian guy was experiencing, because of that question, it might not feel good. Of course, it's not his discomfort. But it is actually a great thing to experience when it comes to the process of you discovering your life purpose and then living it because everybody experienced that part. But what made the difference whether that experience will lead him or her to discover and live their life purpose or not, is how they respond to that experience, you can have this internal discomfort because the question that you cannot really answer related with yourself about what is my background?
Why am I here? Or what are my talents and so on and so forth, or an in store discomfort because of what's going on in your surroundings as well. That can also be a trigger to have an internist comfort as well. And everybody who are able to Discover and live their life purpose, go through this face. So in a way, it's a good thing. But now you know.
So again, the most important thing is how you respond to it. And there are three types of response. The first one is what I call playing victim, it is when someone experiencing this discomfort and then responding or reacting, let's say, by an answer or something like this, well, well, that's life, life is tough, you know, life is not easy. So just, you know, accept it. That's what I call just playing victim. And then the second response is what I call a short term solution, because not knowing the answer to this question is making you to feel this uncomfortable feeling it doesn't feel good, right?
So you try to distract yourself from feeling that kind of emotion by what hanging out with my friends. I go do something that I like, and you know, nothing wrong with that, of course, but that kind of response. It doesn't really actually answer that question, doesn't it? So it can make you feel good for a moment. But you will just wait for the time because that question will come back to you. So it's just a short term solution.
And then there is the third kind of response, where you actually try to explore and really, really go deep into trying to find the answer to those questions. And those who were able to discover and live their purpose are the ones who chose to respond with a third kind of response. And even that, and this is very important, even of those people who are responding with a third kind of response. Many of them are still facing challenges. And why is that? There are still so many people who have a misunderstanding about locked life purpose is let me give you an example.
If let's say, my understanding of life purpose is this, this then is life purpose. Right. We're actually life purpose is this glasses, for example. So this is what I should be trying to find, right? But instead of trying to find this, I've been using my time my effort to discover this, to find this. Because I have a misunderstanding about what is life purpose.
It's supposed to be this one. But I've been looking for this because this is what I thought life purposes. And this is what happened with so many people, even though they're still they're really trying. They're responding with a third response trying to find the answer, but they're still facing a lot of challenges because of this misunderstanding. And there are four main misunderstandings that I would like to share with you. And this is very, very important as well, because this is where we're going to talk my friend, before we go on how to discover and then live your purpose.
We need to get on the understanding first with the right understanding about what is life purpose, and what is not life purpose as well. So let's talk from there. What is not lack purpose, the common misunderstanding four of them. Number one, when I ask people about what is your life over so often I hear this kind of response my life purpose is to become a pilot to become a doctor to become a writer to become a musician, whatever it is, when you say your life purpose is to be something or to achieve something, you are making your life purpose as a target. However, you don't achieve your purpose. You live your purpose, and there is a big, huge difference when you achieve something it means to making it a target you can achieve your target.
As an example, if someone asked me what is my life purpose, my purpose is to enable people to discover and live their life purpose, enabling people to discover and live their life purpose and that is something that I live every single day. It's not something that I achieve what you achieve. Your target, I'm not saying that you should not make a target, you must make a target. It's very important as well, the targets or things to be achieved. They have a different function, they're not the purpose. For example, if let's say I'm making a target, that in this year, by the end of this year, I would like to be able to enable 1 million people, so they can discover their life purpose and start living it.
And then by the end of the year, I'll make an evaluation and see whether I achieved my target or not, but the target itself, the 1 million people is not my purpose. So targets have a function to measure the quality of how good or how bad, you are living your life purpose. It lets them make a target of 1 million. And then by the end of the year, I was only able to facilitate and enable people like let's say 10,000 so It shows that this year, I'm not living my life purpose as good as I want to be. So you see the difference, the 1 million is not the purpose is the target and the target is not the purpose. So, do not define your life purpose by a target, it has a different function.
That's the first misunderstand the most common misunderstanding. And also, by the way, if you define your purpose by a target, once you achieve it, then what's next? Now, the second misunderstanding that so many people have about life purpose is to define life purpose as a single profession. What is your purpose? Again, the same thing like like the one before actually a doctor, a lawyer, a writer, an actor, whatever it is, if you ask me, What is my profession? I'm a writer, Mei programs, I'm an entrepreneur, and then what else side I'm a trainer, I'm a coach, you name it, do not define your life purpose just by a single profession.
Why? Because professionals are just tools that you can choose or even create, you can create your own profession, right? They were just tools that you can choose or create, to live your purpose as best as you can. Like my example earlier I, I'm writing I'm making videos right now and then create a program become an entrepreneur and then I, what else I like I said, I was giving trainings and coaching and so on and so forth. Those are just methods that I can choose. And also, if I define my purpose, let's say, to train people to give trainings to people so so they can discover and live their life purpose without me even realizing it.
It might give an impact to me and affect me as if the only way to enable people is by giving trainings, as if to become a trainer is the only way to get people to discover and live their purpose, but it's not. So that's what I mean do not define your purpose just by a single profession. And also, by the way professions, some of them can go extinct. And then again, there will be new professions as well, a 200 years ago, you don't hear a profession called youtuber or social media expert or whatever is because it's not there yet. Doesn't have to go 200 years, maybe just like 30 years ago, or 20 years ago. And also today, you don't really see a lot of, you know, people whose profession is like a typewriter like the old typing like pop, pop, pop pop, that's pretty much gone.
Or before electricity was found back in the days when the sun was about to set. There are people who are professionals are carrying their torch there. Turning on the lamps or the lights on the street. But when the electricity and the no lamps were become like a common thing to have, those professions are long gone. So you will never know. Because, again for questions are just methods basically tools, that which method is the best one, the best ones because again can be more than one to facilitate you to live your purpose as best as you can.
So do not define it by just a single profession. Second misunderstanding that is the third one. And this is also pretty common as well. When I ask people, what is your life purpose, to be happy or to to be useful to people? I want to be someone who's useful to my family or someone who's useful to my society. Again, no, that's good.
I'm not saying that it's bad. It's good. Of course, that my friends, if you're alive and you're not being useful, it means you're insignificant. It means Whether you're here or not, it doesn't matter. Oh, I hope you're not being significant by in a negative way. Right?
So the problem with that kind of answer is it is too broad. It does not make you focus and how you're going to live your life. It's just the same thing. Like you were saying, for example, this phone if I asked, What is the purpose of this phone, oh, to make people's life easier, for every single product is made to create at least one person's life easier, if not many people, right? But the purpose of this one is as a means of communication. So it needs to be more focused than just saying it to make people's life easier, and we'll get to that as well.
And the fourth, misunderstandings about life purpose is to define your purpose only within the circle of your family. This is the kind of answers that I often got assume to make my parents proud What is your life purpose, make my parents proud all or to be a great dad or a great mom or a great wife or a great husband? No, that's good. But if you're married, then you need to be a great wife or husband. If you have a child, you need to be a great mom or dad. So it's something that you can say a compulsory that comes with it, right?
That's called being responsible. And your potential is way bigger than just doing something for your family circle. But let me get this point straight. I am not saying that. If you are discovering if you discover your purpose, and then you're living your purpose, and your marriage just fall apart, or you're not taking care of your child is used supposed to. I'm not saying that that should come first, of course, because like I said, it's part of the responsibility of becoming a husband or wife or a father or a mother, right?
Or even a child as well to their parents. However, do not just stay within that circle. That's what I'm trying to say. But still a lot as far as you're responsible. You need to take care of that as well, of course. So having that cleared.
Now let's get to define what is life purpose, right? We were clear with the common misunderstanding. It's not this is not this not that it's not that. So what is it? What is life purpose? Let me give you a simple analogy with this phone, what kind of values that this phone could generate.
It could be used for many, many things. You can use this to make a phone call to send an SMS text message. You can use this to open your social media, we use social media, you can use this as an alarm. You can listen to music, you can take pictures with this. If there's a bunch of papers and there's a win coming, you can put this on the stack of papers just to make sure it doesn't no fly away over the place. There may be so many so many different values that you can get from this phone.
And by the way When we talk about purpose, there are a few principles that you need to remember and this should be part of the mindset as well. Number one is talking about life purpose is a long term thing. So, you need to think from a long term perspective. The second thing is that when it comes to purpose, it is not a situational thing. What does that mean? For example, yes, there are some situations where the alarm off this phone will be very, very useful, right.
There are some situations where the calendar of this one will be very, very useful, but purpose is not a situational thing. So, I asked you earlier, what are the many values that this phone can generate so many right, but in the long term and not situational? What would you think is the main purpose The purpose of this phone as a means of communication, regardless of which features that you're using to communicate, whether it's to make a call or or from social media, emails, whatever it is. So, the purpose of this phone is as a means to communicate. And why would we say that the purpose is to be used as a means of communication, because in the long term and not situational, the phone is generating its biggest impact when it is being used as a means of communication, which also leads me to tell you this third principle, the third mindset that you need to remember you need to keep as well when it comes to purpose, long term, not situational.
And it is something that is continuous. That is why you live your purpose instead of achieving your purpose. Why is it continuous? Again, for example, you don't use this phone to communicate And then just after, okay, it's being used as its purpose, and you just throw it away. Now, the more you use this phone to communicate, meaning the more you use this phone aligned to its purpose, the bigger the impact that this phone can generate. So it's like a snowball effect.
The more you live your purpose, the bigger the impact that you can generate. So if the purpose of this phone is as a means to be used to communicate, so when it comes to us as human beings, when we're doing what continuously, could we generate the biggest impact? When we discover the answer to that question, then we discover our purpose and from one person to another, the answer could be different. So your life purpose is the thing that if you do it continuously, you live it day to day would be able to generate the biggest impact from yourself to others and others is not just other people. But the society the world around you. Why only to others?
First of all, when you live your purpose, it will also give a positive impact to yourself that sense of contribution, that sense of growth, that sense of meaning and fulfillment, that the essence the concept of purpose itself is always in serving of others. Let's get back to this phone analogy. Again, this phone does not serve itself, it does not generate value to the phone itself. It generates value to us users. And if you think about it, every single creation was not created to give or generate value to that creation itself. But to others.
Again, I'm not saying you should not do anything that make you happy. Of course, you should. You must actually but let's make sure we understand the essence of purpose of life purpose itself, it is to serve others it's always been serving others and through serving others through generating values to others, you will also get that sense of fulfillment as well. The camera that is being used right now to shoot this video, its purpose is not to generate value to the camera itself, but to the ones who are using it, or the bookshelf. Same thing, right? So the essence is always in serving others.
So let's get back to the definition again, your life purpose is the thing that when you do it continuously, on a long term basis, not just situational, it will enable you to generate the biggest impact from yourself to others. And again, the answer to that question from one person to another, can be different. And this program is about how to discover that more efficiently, more effectively, of course. So in a way, think about it. Now, we have this question, right? What is my life purpose?
What is my life purpose? And when we know the answer to that question, it means we know our life purpose. So let's treat this question as a mystery. Because it is a mystery Actually, it's a mystery. So from here on, you are going to become a detective. Because we have this mystery Now, what is my life purpose, right?
It's a mystery and you will become a detective for yourself. So we can use the approach of a great detective when they're trying to solve a mystery. And when a detective has a case, it is important to find the right clues to help him or her to solve the case. And that's what we're going to do as well because in this program, you will learn the clues on how to discover your life purpose, as well as what to do with those clues. How can we use that clue and how can we investigate as well? So until we meet in the next video, which I'm going to break down how to define a purpose, how to define in terms of statement, how to define a life purpose statement, and remember that your life is your responsibility and I believe that is why you are here in this program because you want to take responsibility you want to take charge on discovering your own life purpose and living that purpose.
So until we meet again to the next video
