Hello. So I've had the domain name question a couple of times in this week in my emails, and it's from people who are getting started making businesses online. And they say, oh, what should I do for my domain name? The domain name is the WW. something.com. You know, you've got to make it up.
It's got to be original. And what do you do? And I always say the same thing. It doesn't matter. It really doesn't matter that much about the domain. It's so important to get started.
Now what I've done, I think is, this is good advice. Other people may disagree with me, but my name Rob carbon. I was lucky the surname is quite rare. So I could register Rob cabin, which I did in 2005. And it was a.com. And I've stuck to it ever since.
And I think that has really helped me why it means because I could write and blog about a variety of different subjects. At first All I was blogging about was graphic design graphic design up for about two years before I started talking about web design. And now I'm talking about all sorts of small business subjects. And it's all been under the umbrella of mine domain. So I've got all the Google links, all the social media, social proof, all together under one roof. And I didn't limit myself by using a domain about graphic design, for example, which would have meant that I couldn't talk about anything else apart from graphic design, which would have been a great show.
So apart from that, just choose something short and simple that people if they hear it, they can easily type here, but most people will access your website or a link. So it doesn't really matter if you have the best domain name in the world or a really crappy one. The UK is most successful personal development blogger is Steven Aitchison. His website is WW, Steven aitchison.co.uk slash blog. There's another thing that's great. So, and yet he's hugely successful, it really doesn't matter.
And interesting, he went for his first name, last name as well in his domain. I mean, I do think that's a good idea because it doesn't narrow you down in terms of a niche. But other people will say you've got to niche down and you've got to just talk about one niche and do that for the rest of your life. But quite frankly, I would find that too boring. If you're stressed out about choosing a domain. Just try your first name, last name, calm.
And if you can't get that, see if you can add your middle name initial or something like that. But the most important thing is to register that domain and build a website and get started. Just try some online business, create some valuable free content and see if you can grow a business. See if you can grow an audience. My name is Joel Kevin, I'll see you in another video.
